If you haven't noticed, we are closing in on the last days of an election.

Sometimes we can think, "These elections just have nothing to do with me." It might have more to do with you, than you are comfortable with!

During election years we hear more and more from people saying, "Pray for our nation". Some people mean that-a call to prayer. Other people use that expression to make some kind of political points.

But you are called of God to pray for this nation. And the health of this nation actually begins with you.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says so:

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

You want healing in this country? You want the United States restored?

It doesn't begin in the voting booth. It begins in the prayer closet.

A friend of mine recently posted the following statement on his facebook. He is right on the mark:

Jesus wants to rule every segment of your life - including your political decisions. "We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." Consider what Christ would have you do this November.

I know few things He would have us do:

• Humble yourself.
• Pray.
• Seek the face of God.
• Abandon your lust for sin.
• Turn away from your sin and turn back to your God.

If you do those things as you prepare for this election, you are a hero patriot! Jesus wants to rule every segment of your life. Surrender to Him.
