Greetings!

I am Kevin Lee, and I approved this message.

Well, the election is finally getting close, just in case you have failed to pay attention to that detail.

Here's the truth about me. I tire quickly of the political rhetoric of election years. I get tired of the circular nature of the arguments that are made-arguments that to me at least, seem like they are not aimed at telling the truth, but spinning the realities to make you think that they are telling the truth.

I'm a cynic.

In fact recently a friend told me, "There is a book that you need to read. It is all about you! (meaning, my views on politics). The title of the book is 'It's even worse than it looks!'"

I haven't picked up a copy yet. The point of the book is that the stuff that we hate about politics: the polarization, the "my side" vs. "the other side", the seemingly lack of care for what is best for the country, etc., etc., etc.,--is actually much worse than even we suspect!!

I know. You are welcome. I love being the bearer of good news.

So what do you do in these political realities? What do you do during this season of elections?

This is my strategy. For the most part I try to shut out all the noise. And I try to make sure that I hear God's voice as He speaks to me.

I don't pretend to have all the answers. I don't much trust all the mixed messages that are presented to us.

But this is where I find my truth-every election cycle.

James writes:

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

That's my prayer on days/weeks like these. I'm not listening to or for anything other than to hear the voice of my Father, who is a generous God-especially when it comes to wisdom.

Pray, as you prepare to exercise this incredible freedom that we have to vote in free elections. What a great country we have inherited!
