Little things...
This week we are going to be focused on little things. Little things have the potential of changing our lives.
Last week you didn't receive prayer journals on a couple of days. The reason for that is that I found myself sick last week. I hate getting sick. Don't you? It hit me on Monday night: just a sore throat and a little achy. But by the next morning, when I woke up, I knew I was sick.
- Fever
- Aching all over
- Congestion
It's just a little thing.
It's just a germ.
Amazing how that little thing can make the entire body feel. It's a little thing, but the illness spreads to everything.
Jesus described the Kingdom of God similarly. He compared it to yeast. Just a little yeast is used in dough, but it spreads throughout the entire loaf. That was actually a pretty bold statement by Jesus. Yeast was used throughout the Old Testament to represent sin. In fact, during the great feasts, yeast was not even allowed in your house!
Yeast is a little thing, but it spreads throughout. Sin is like that. We might think it is a little thing, but it infects and affects everything.
Today would you pray about the little things you are allowing into your life?
- What "little" sins are you allowing into your life that you consider, "harmless"?
- Isn't it time you confessed it, released it, and trusted Jesus to make you whole?
When I'm sick, I have the good sense to get to a doctor so that the "little thing in me" doesn't destroy me.
Today would you pray about the little things you NEED to allow into your life?
- Is the Kingdom of God growing within you?
- Are you feeding God's presence through time in prayer?
- Are you allowing God to work and grow in your life, so that he permeates everything within you?
