Greetings!
YPR was proud to be a "vendor" and supporter of Racine's 1st Annual "Bark for Life", presented by the American Cancer Society. YPR handed out treats to the hard-working dogs who stood up to cancer, helping to raise over $5,000. We couldn't have been more happy to be a part of the event or prouder of our own Tara Panasewicz who was an integral part of organizing and hosting this event.
With the successful completion of Bark for Life, we gearing up for a busy fall with the announcement of this year's YP of the Year (YPY) and our annual wine event. Please save the date for October 18, 2013 for the wine event, with more details to be announced. I hope you enjoy your last month or so of summer. Looking forward to next year already!
April Jacobs
YPR Board President

Donations Welcome!

YPR Hope Lodge Donation Drive.
Facing cancer is hard. Having to travel out of town for treatment can make it even harder. Yet the American Cancer Society has a place where cancer patients and their caregivers can find help and hope when home is far away - an American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.
Each Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows guests to focus on getting well. Hope Lodge provides a nurturing, home-like environment where guests can retreat to private rooms or connect with others. Every Hope Lodge also offers a variety of resources and information about cancer and how best to fight the disease.
YPR will be collecting for the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge for the next four months, Click Here to view the needs list and cross check your ability to donate with your heart as we are hoping to make an impactful difference in the lives of those battling cancer.
Wanting to give but items are not your thing? In lieu of items, we will accept donations to the American Cancer Society. Checks can be mailed to: Attn: Young Professionals of Racine, American Cancer Society, PO Box 902, Pewaukee, WI 53072 or dropped to RAMAC 300 5t St in Racine.

Racine/Kenosha FastPitch Competition.
Entrepreneurs, business owners and students are all invited to hone a three-minute "pitch" about their business or business concept to a group of judges from the business and investment community. On the line: $5,000 for the individual who knocks his or her pitch out of the park in the 2nd Annual FastPitch Competition.
Individuals must strive to make every second count: on Wednesday, Aug. 21st, they have 180 of them to describe their business, or their idea for one. Even for those who do not walk away with the cash prize, there are many benefits: the setting offers competitors the chance to refine their business focus, enhance their presentation skills, network with fellow entrepreneurs and connect with potential investors or individuals who can accelerate the realization of their idea or business.
The Racine/Kenosha event will be at the University of Wisconsin -Parkside Student Center Ballroom in Kenosha. UW-Parkside's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is partnering on the event. Additional information, as well as registration forms can be found online at:
Contestants, from high school seniors and college students to local entrepreneurs and business owners, will be assigned to different rooms. Three-judge panels from the business and investment community will evaluate each presentation. After that first round, a group will advance to the final round, which will be conducted in the auditorium starting at 5:45 p.m. Click here for full press release.
