Head, Hands, and Hearts in Detroit
for the 3rd Annual AWSNA Service Weekend

Over 100 students, teachers, parents, alumni, and friends from around the continental Waldorf community gathered at the Detroit Waldorf School April 19, 20, and 21 to pitch in support of this wonderful school - painting, building, planting, and more. This marks the third annual Waldorf-inspired service event. First we went to the Waldorf School of New Orleans, then the Lakota Waldorf School, and now the Detroit Waldorf School. Each year so much gets done! So many hands make the work light and our communities strong.

Waldorf Education in the World

Fires in Glasgow and Jarna

Last month, just a few days apart, there were two devastating fires in sister schools and farms.

The first was in Jarna, Sweden, at the Steiner Farm School and Biodynamic Farm. 70 cows were lost in the fire and in the days following the fire over 1,000 people gathered to make a circle to honor the animals lost in the tragedy.

The second was at the Glasgow Steiner School on March 26. The Glasgow school is now in desperate need of funds in order to remain viable. Here's an excerpt from a letter we received from Isaac Cardwell at the Edinburgh Steiner School: "Last month's fire destroyed the Glasgow school's Victorian building, beautifully restored through years of work by teachers, parents. Now it rents half of a former school building but faces $100,000 for fire-safety installations under recent regulations... the school needs to raise the money quickly, as it cannot open until the work is complete. If it takes too long it will lose pupils, then it can't pay the rent. The place to donate is MY DONATE BT, and type in Glasgow Steiner school under the Charities column."

Please keep these communities in your best thoughts as the recovery continues.
