Star Spangled Springfield Sparkled
July 4th was a great evening to spend in Riverfront Park. Festival Field to the Memorial Bridge was packed with patriotic revelers. They came to enjoy the music of Falcetti Music and Maxxtone. They stayed for the amazing fireworks display, and they went home filled with pride for their community and their country.
Thank you to MassMutual Financial Group, the lead sponsor, as well as CBRE/Tower Square, Smith & Wesson, and MGM Springfield. Other support came from the media, flatbed trailers and trucks, refreshments and more! For the complete list visit spiritofspringfield.org.

For the 25th year, Fireworks by Grucci brought their rockets red glare and so much more to Springfield to make for a Star Spangled Springfield. They first sent a musical score for approval. They submitted a second and third before it was perfect. The next step was to choreograph every charge, each burst and every element of design to the rhythm, beat and spirit of the music.
Following the detailed plan, the crew of pyrotechnicians and Springfield Department of Public Works made it all happen. They laid out boxes on the bridge for the ground effects. They wired charges to three flatbed trailers.
Lead pyrotechnician David Van Buskirk listened on a head set provided by Mix 93.1 FM. At the exact moment, he lit the electronic charges. Magic was made.

Congratulations Jesse

The Spirit of Springfield was pleased to lend its support to Jesse Baker when he opened 180 Fit Gym at One Financial Plaza in 2014. He has come a long way since building a first-class gym and finding the love of his life.
Judy Matt was there for Jesse's next milestone when he wed Suzanne Rodrigues on the beach in Newport, RI.
