A Chicago au pair called our office...

That gave us the idea for this newsletter!

A Chicago au pair called our office recently saying she was thinking about signing up for the Niagara Falls educational course/tour but wanted to know if she could have permission to email a few au pairs from the New York / New Jersey / Connecticut area who have already done a Learning Across America educational course.  She just wanted to make sure it was worth her time and money.

Recently almost 300 au pairs  (from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut & Philadelphia) completed a Learning Across America course and tour.  So we asked them this question:

If you had a friend in Chicago who was an au pair, what would you tell them about the 'Learning Across America' educational course/tour?

We'll let the au pairs give you their answers...

"I tried going to classes at a community college and spent so much money that even the fact that the classes were really interesting it didn't make me feel it was worth it.  Then I decided to take a BMCC course.  It's really intense but it's much better spending some weekends busy than a whole semester and after all that you get to know a new place.  The Cultural Hi-Ways staff are very thoughtful and give their best to make everything perfect.  I am totally going to do more BMCC courses so I can learn more and see new places, all on a reasonable budget. :)"

"Thank you for such a great program! I made amazing friends!! And of course memories of a life time.

I've participated in two learning across America courses.. So that obviously says something!

I was able to experience two weekends away that I would never have on my own or with friends. Learning about the history and background of each city made a lot more sense when going there. You had more knowledge about each place you went to.  Having plenty of free time that allowed you to then explore what you wanted to explore was an added bonus.  Both the hotels that I stayed at were really nice!!

"The Learning Across America program is the best, fastest and cheapest way for au pairs to get the credits their program requires!  It's also a great opportunity to meet lots of other au pairs, exchange experiences and visit fantastic places. I did both the Niagara falls class and the Boston class and can recommend it to every au pair coming to America!

Both Cultural Hi-Ways and the Borough of Manhattan Community College are well organized and helpful with any questions or problems that might occur."

"I thought it was a really good program.  It was fun to learn about a city and then be able to go and see and experience the place. It was well organized and so much fun."

"The opportunity to take a class and then go on a trip is amazing!  You get to know a lot of history, you can see all the places where it happened and have a tour guide for explanations.  You get credits for having fun for a reasonable price -  and you have time to see some places on your own!  Thanks for the wonderful tour!"

"I can honestly say that the BMCC class and tour with Cultural Hi-Ways was the best possible way I could've completed my credits. I would recommend it to any au pair!"

"This class is awesome!  I learned so many things about American culture during my classes.  The final trip was wonderful!"

"It's a good way for Au Pairs who would like to learn about America and like to travel at the same time - you don't need to pay a lot of money for that.  For me, I took this course because it saved me time, I learned about American history, the teacher was so nice.  Moreover, it was a good weekend away.  I had a good time with my friends as well.  I think taking a course with Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) is worth it."
