Hi there!

Overview of the Event: More than Music's "Hope for the Hurting" fundraiser will be a one-hour, free breakfast focused on making the case for support for, 501 c-3 nonprofit, More than Music's mission to revolutionize the culture at large, one heart at a time, until everyone on earth knows and lives the love that is in Jesus Christ. The event will consist of a testimonial and/or a video, a short presentation by More than Music staff, and the event emcee, KTIS's morning host Pam Lundell, and an "ask" for donations at the conclusion of the event.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When should I start inviting my guests?
A: Start as soon as possible. It is never too early to get a date on people's calendars.
Q: What if most of the people I want to invite work during the time of the breakfast? A: We know how valuable your time is and that of your guests. Many employers will allow some flexibility for their employees, considering the good cause they are supporting. We plan to stick closely to our agenda, which will enable most guests to be on the way out by 10:00 am.
Q: What if more than 10 of the people I invite want to attend?
A: GREAT! We will do our best to seat your additional guests at a table near you. Either way, they will enjoy the event wherever they sit.
Q: Where is the breakfast?
A: The breakfast is located at the Metropolitan, 5418 Wayzata Boulevard in Golden Valley. The Metropolitan is close to downtown, very easy to find, and has ample parking.
Q: What makes this event special?
A: Our MtM "Hope for the Hurting" promotional event is special for several reasons. First, there is no cost to attend and no minimum or maximum contribution required. Second, we are not asking for a lot of time and we promise that hour will be inspirational and educational. We guarantee that when people discover the impact More than Music is making in our communities, they will be glad they came.
Q: What if the people I invite want to know more about More than Music before the breakfast?
A: We would love for people to learn more about More than Music before the breakfast! Please visit www.MorethanMusicInc.com or contact Genny at G4j@MorethanMusicInc.com or 651.207.9501 to set up a time for you to speak with Stephanie Pauline, founder of More than Music, and have a chance to learn about More than Music's mission.
Q: What if I can't fill my table by the Nov 2nd guest list deadline?
A: Please start early! It is a courtesy to your guests to get the event onto their calendar as early as possible. If you find it challenging to identify 5 - 9 people to join you at your table, we encourage you to consider all of your networks (groups you may be in, neighbors you may know, workplace contacts, church members, clubs, etc.). If you invite guests after Nov 2nd, we cannot guarantee they will be able to sit at your table.

Tips for Table Captains
1)      What does it take to be a good Table Captain?
You do not need to be a great sales person to be a good Table Captain. All you need is passion for More than Music (MtM), a little time here and there to contact potential guests and some knowledge of the event. We already know you care about MtM and you probably have a little time because you said "yes", so now we want to provide more information and tips to make your job easier.

2)      What to say when inviting your guests?
You may want to begin the conversation by explaining your relationship or involvement with More than Music and give a brief overview of what we do. Then, follow by saying:

-We have had revolutionizing material by artists we have supported aired on over 1000 radio stations in 30 countries, and have had media spots aired internationally through the 700 club and other avenues, reaching millions with a message of hope and healing.

More than Music's STORY
In the past five years, More than Music has produced over 75 free concerts in correctional and treatment facilities, has supported social service ministries through benefit concerts; raising over $120,000 for worthy causes, and has served as an independent sending agency for like-hearted musicians, artists and missions projects. Through this work, and our shared art and multimedia, ministries have been strengthened, millions have heard the message of hope and forgiveness, and lives have been transformed by Christ.

Detention center ministry stories:
Jason's Story: I was born into a fatherless home.  My mom tried, but she was so busy working, and I was so surrounded by drugs and gangs, and violence where I grew up.  I was angry all the time.  Getting into fights.  I thought I didn't matter.  She sent me to live with my grandma finally because she couldn't handle me.  Soon my grandma was done with me too.  I kept getting into trouble.  I was 13 when I was first arrested, and then again, and again and again and again.  Finally I was incarcerated for the last few years of my adolescence.

When Youth for Christ came to the juvenile detention center they began talking about how much God loves me.  How He is a father to the fatherless.  How he has a plan for my life.  That I was made for something good.  I had never heard that before.  They gave me a Bible and told me to start with John.  Years later I still have the Bible and all the pages are curled up at the edges, and it's all marked up.  I love that Bible.

I am in culinary school now.  I love it.  I am out of prison and have been for three years now.  I'm never going back.  I see the future before me and God is at the center of it.  I am made for good things.  I know that now.  I love my life.  I love God.

Nikole's Story: I was abused, and then molested by my mom's boyfriend when I was young.  I was afraid to tell her.  My mom could be abusive, but she tried hard - she worked a lot.  I started getting in trouble.  I thought I was worthless.  I was so full of shame.  I was in the detention center when I met Stephanie.

She was full of light, and her songs, words and smile pierced through my defenses.  I didn't know how to say what I needed, but I knew I didn't want her to leave without making contact.  I scrawled my deepest need in just a few little words on a piece of paper.  It hurt to hope she might care.  When she was busy talking to the other kids I slipped it into her pocket.

Five years later Stephanie is always just a phone call away for me.  I have a beautiful baby girl.  My life is still hard, but I have hope.  I have been out of trouble with the law for years.  I am going to school.  I call Stephanie when I am afraid.  She tells me how much God loves me.  It is going to take a lifetime to heal some of this, but knowing someone cares has made such a difference to me.    THIS is what More than Music is about.

Event specifics to mention to your guests:
"On Nov 7th from 9:00-10:00 am, More than Music is holding a breakfast event. The theme is Hope for the Hurting. I'd like to invite you to join me at my table for the event. This is a 'free' breakfast for people to come and learn more about the extraordinary work More than Music is doing, and yes, it's a fundraiser as well. You will be asked to consider making a contribution; however, there is no minimum and no maximum gift required. It is the job of More than Music to inspire people to give. As much as anything, I would like you to come and learn how More than Music is making a difference in so many lives throughout the country. I would be delighted if you would join me."

3)      Once your guests say "Yes":
Please let Genny Moelling know via phone 651.207.9501, or e-mail: G4j@MorethanMusicInc.com no later than Oct 30th, 2015. You are asked to confirm attendance for 4 - 9 other people at your table.

4)      What if this is easier than I thought?

We hope it is! We know you have a lot of contacts in the community and believe that after you get a few confirmed guests, you will have your table filled in no time at all. However, if you get stuck or need some support, please contact Genny.
