Virginia Wine Lover
There's lots to celebrate this March. First, and perhaps most important, the winter of 2013 is almost behind us and spring beckons. The wineries are coming back to life after a long, bitter winter. Tasting Rooms are reopening and weekend events are moving into high gear. It will soon be warm enough for spring festivals, but in the meantime, the Chesapeake Spring Wine Festival will be held indoors this weekend.
March is also designated as Wine & Dine Month, with restaurants and wine shops across the state showcasing and promoting Virginia wine by the glass. Join in by asking for a glass of Virginia wine when you're dining out.
A very big event in Richmond on March 11-14 is the Wineries Unlimited Trade Show & Conference. One of the country's largest wine industries events, it draws hundreds of attendees involved in the wine and craft beer industries. Be sure to register below for the Sweepstakes that includes a super package of tickets and hotel accommodations.
Doukénie is our featured Winery of the Month for March, and we encourage you to visit. On March 22 winemaker Sebastien Marquet will share the secrets of making an excellent blend, and the lucky winner of the Doukénie Sweepstakes (see below) will join in creating the winery's next Vintner's reserve.
There's a lot going on this March, so get out and join us along the trail...the wine trail, that is. Cheers!
