Gas Tax: 9 Ways to Save at the Pump

Are you ready to pay more at the pump to fill up?

In just two weeks, on Nov. 1, New Jersey's gas tax will rise to 37.5 cents a gallon, an increase of 23 cents. The increase will help refuel the state's insolvent Transportation Trust Fund used to pay for road and bridge repairs.

Judging by Tuesday's average gasoline price in Monmouth and Ocean counties of $2.02 a gallon, prices will spike to about $2.25 on Nov. 1. (The last time we saw average gas prices over $2.20 a gallon at the Jersey Shore was in August 2015, AAA says.)

Quit Like a Champion
Great American Smoke-Out

Get ready to lose - the habit, and become more victorious over tobacco.

Cigarette smoking is the number one risk factor for lung cancer. In the United States, cigarette smoking causes about 90% of lung cancers. Using other tobacco products such as cigars or pipes also increases the risk for lung cancer. Tobacco smoke is a toxic mix of more than 7,000 chemicals. People who smoke are 15 to 30 times more likely to get lung cancer or die from lung cancer than people who do not smoke. Even smoking a few cigarettes a day or smoking occasionally increases the risk of lung cancer. The more years a person smokes and the more cigarettes smoked each day, the more risk goes up.

County of Cape May is pleased to announce we will be participating in
the Great American Smoke out on November 17, 2016

We are asking employees to make this a day to QUIT.
