PRESS RELEASE
Atlantic City Electric Focuses on Electrical Safety Month

May is National Electrical Safety Month, and Atlantic City Electric would like to share the following tips to help keep you safe when working with or around electricity:

  • If you see a downed wire, stay away and call the Atlantic City Electric emergency outage number, 1-800-833-7476. Assume all downed wires are energized.
  • Before digging, call 811, the national One Call Notification System number, so any utility lines can be marked before construction.
  • Educate children so they will know the dangers and stay away from electric facilities such as substations, transmission towers and pad-mounted transformers, also known as green boxes.
  • Know your overhead surroundings before starting a project. When carrying long or tall items, such as ladders, tree saws and pool cleaning equipment, hold them parallel to the ground. Remember that electricity can move through conductive materials, such as water, metal, wood, aluminum, string and plastics.
  • Stay away from overhead lines. Be watchful when trimming trees or working near the electrical connection to your property.

Bedford Inn Celebrates Grand Re-Opening

The charming Bedford Inn in Cape May is re-opening after a devastating fire in January 2014. Now, restored to its former glory with restored antiques, authentic Victorian style dcor, and a few 21st century upgrades to its infrastructure, guests can enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay at this timeless Cape May bed and breakfast.

"As someone who's worked in hospitality for many years it was such a rewarding experience to have the support and hospitality of my community, friends and family, and former guests when the Bedford Inn was first damaged," said Archie Kirk, owner of the Bedford Inn. " I can't thank everyone who's been involved enough, from our Cape May Fire Department, to other inns and bed and breakfasts for helping out my guests in need. I'm so happy to finally re-open the doors and say, "Welcome to the Bedford Inn."
