Want to bring in the big bucks?
We'd like to help churches do just that by compiling a list of local Rhode Island agencies and foundations that have a history of giving grants to religious institutions.
If your church has received a grant in the past five years, please email Ruthie Moulton (rmoulton@episcopalri.org) with the following:
- The name of the foundation or agency
- The purpose of the grant
- The amount you received
- When you received it
- Any comments about working with that foundation or agency
We are also interested in facilitating the sharing of experiences between congregations. Please let us know about members of your congregation who:
- Have a personal connection with a foundation or agency and might be willing to introduce a fellow Episcopalian to their contact there; or
- Might be able to assist another congregation in preparing a grant application.
Here are three websites that list foundations in Rhode Island. Do you know of others?

Christmas presents
When you've found just the right Christmas gift, it's a delight to watch as the recipient tears off the wrapping to see what's inside. That moment of eager anticipation has such power for givers and receivers alike.
The biggest present for Churches this season is the influx of visitors and occasional worshipers at Christmas, on top of the stalwart regulars who fill their pews (and coffers).
In his article Doing a Christmas Eve Offering Well, J. Clif Christopher offers a different take on the power of all those visitors. He writes that Christmas service offerings are an important opportunity, but not for the reasons you might think.
Read his four tips for a spectacular Christmas Eve offering and see whether your church can leverage the real power in this season of giving.
