Shabbat Shalom shabbat shalom

Welcome Shabbat with us this Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Rabbi Mark Kram will be on the bima.

Oneg Shabbat will follow the service.
yom hashoah candle Yom HaShoah

Dear Friends,

Each year we gather to commemorate and honor the memories of 1/3 of our people who were murdered during the Holocaust.  It's important to remember.  And to do it publicly as a community.

The devastation is of such immense proportion that it is almost incomprehensible. But together we are comforted and consoled - even though just a little and incompletely.

Friday night we will gather to remember.  Please consider a short reading that you might share in our community's observance of Yom HaShoah.

Thank you

Rabbi Mark

Adult Education is next Tuesday!
May 10, 2016, 7:30 p.m.

We had such a great program and discussion of our topic "Death, dying, and end-of-life issues" that we are continuing the topic again on Tuesday, May 10th at 7:30 PM at the Temple.

 That's in exactly one week!

The Rabbi will concentrate more on the role of the caregivers, family, and friends in terms of what to say or not say, what to do or not do, how to help, and so on.  Any other questions you have will also be addressed.

So, mark your calendars for next Tuesday, May 10 at 7:30 PM!

And many thanks to Amy Lomaskin for organizing and coordinating our AE sessions!

kid_boy_drumming.jpgKitchen Wish List!

Our new kitchen is up and running, as those who have tasted the home-baked challahs at services will tell you.

Some folks have asked what they might contribute for the kitchen, so we've made a list of items that have occurred to us so far:
  • Mixing bowl set: preferably stainless with straight sides
  • Cake pans, round and square/rectangular
  • Muffin tins: regular size and mini-muffins
  • Whisks
  • Cooling racks
  • A few more nice dish towels
If you can contribute one or more of these items, we'll be very grateful, and you'll get to sample the results!

Yard Sale Schedule

YARD SALE DROP-OFF UPDATE:
We will not have access to the Sanctuary until May 15, so please do not bring in linens, kids' toys and clothing, and household goods until that date, as we have no place to store them.  We are accepting:  clothes, shoes, purses, electronics, appliances, office, books, lamps, and small health and fitness items.   As of Sunday, May 15, we will be accepting everything!  Thanks for your patience.

Thanks to those who have donated.  The donations have been tremendous!  We especially love it when clothing is brought in on hangers, as it takes much less time to sort and place them.  Also, please give your clothes a good look to make sure they are clean before bringing them.

Thanks to the wonderful volunteers who spent hours unloading bags.  Oy! Our aching backs!  We are so grateful for your time, enthusiasm and energy.  We will be collecting this Saturday from 10-1, and really need a lot of folks to help.  We will not be collecting on Mother's Day.

Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., including

Plant Sale This Saturday

PLANT SALE SATURDAY, MAY 7, 10-1:  Yes, we do have fresh plants from the nursery.  There are an assortment of beautiful bromeliads, including neogelias, the ones with the flat, colorful centers, and a stunning ornamental pineapple.  They make beautiful, inexpensive Mother's Day gifts, or a wonderful addition to your gardens.  You are welcome to bring your own baskets if you want a custom arrangement.

FOR MOTHER'S DAY
While you drop off clothes for the yard sale, on Sunday May 1 from 2-5 pm, there will be an opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind jewelry (necklace and earring sets) at very reasonable prices ($35-$55) and the Temple will get a donation with each purchase.  Or call Nancy directly at (786) 322-9605 and arrange a private showing of her work and the Temple will still get a donation.

Orchid  baskets will be available for Mother's Day on May 7th,  but by request only.  Anyone interested should contact me Marcy directly at mprince2@bellsouth.net.  If you wish, leave a message on the Temple voicemail, and it will be relayed to Marcy up to next Tuesday, May 3.

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN
...continues to grow!
gardening-items.jpg

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN needs green thumbs!

Let's put the 'Or' in 'Organic"

Just a few committed diggers/planters/harvesters energize our Garden areas  - you have the infrastructure.  Cultivate your own plot at Beth Or and'ro help our next communal crop of bananas, papayas, other edibles, herbs and medicinals.

Over 20 years ago Beth Orians wer Shomrei Adamah, Guardians of the Earth -- Keepers of the Garden of Eden, aspiring to the highest standards of earth ethics.  We can and will carefully select the veggies and herbs to maximize output, with proven techniques such as companion planting, insect control, etc.  With today's high prices, a garden is economically desirable.  Plus, it is a part of a healthy lifestyle, providing hands-on education and a social communal experience.

Kavanah~ Rabbi Mark:  "...to help build up our people, our institutions and our strength so that we continue to l'takein olam b'malchut Shaddai, 'repair the world under the kingdom of heaven.'  Let's get our hands deliciously "dirty" in this endeavor as we grow and sustain our beloved community."
