Elvis Has Apparently
Not Left the Building

For those who missed the luncheon last Sunday, Chris MacDonald is an Elvis impersonator extraordinaire.   Rose Spector has kindly gathered information for anyone interested in going to the Chris MacDonald concert at the Aventura Cultural Center on April 16th.  Check him out at  chrismacdonaldelvis.com

Here are the details:

If we have a group of 10 or more who commit to going, the cost would be $47.50 per ticket.  If we don't have enough people, the tickets are $50.00 plus 18% tax if we purchase them before November 17th.  After that date, it is $55 plus the 18% tax.

The group sales manager said that we should make our reservations ASAP as it is a very small theater so please emphasize that people need to at least let Rose know if they want to go by Monday so that she can call and let the theater know.  We will not need to pay until a later date but we need to reserve the seats.

Rose Spector will be the contact person for this event, so please email her immediately if you're interested, at:

Message from Rhoni Tannebaum, Bazaar Co-Chair

A huge thank you to all of the congregation who came out to support our annual bazaar, beginning with Amy and her crew setting up the tables and chairs,  Linda for making all the table cards.

Thank you to Irene for breakfast goodies and April for lunch.

Weather aside, many of the vendors did very well and were so complimentary to the attitude of the volunteers. One even said "I didn't know that people were this nice in Miami!"  April still has the hair on her head even though keeping records of this event, right after the gala was a tremendous commitment.  Kathy as always, kept us sane and laughing.

Tom Gammon and his committee raised $200 on the selling of raffles. Thank you Marcy for selling your plants. The best compliment was from some of our new vendors who agreed to return next year. Suggestions are always welcome for next year, as well as addition vendors, and I forbid it to rain!!!

Gift Cards for Toys for JAFCO

Deadline for donating gift cards is this Friday, November 20!

The Beth Or Social Action project for Chanukah is to fulfill some of the wishes of Jewish children who are in foster care in South Florida.

Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options (JAFCO) is an organization whose mission is to care for abused and neglected children and those with disabilities in the Jewish community.  They are collecting the children's wish lists for Chanukah toys and we would like to help them fulfill those wishes.

The Social Action Committee will be collecting gift cards, in any denomination, from either Target, Walmart or Toys R Us ONLY.  Please indicate the dollar value of the gift card by writing it on the card or taping it to the card.

There is box (with a slot) in the Oneg room labeled JAFCO CHANUKAH PROJECT.  You can drop your card in the slot of this box beginning Monday, November 2nd OR you can mail the card to Kathy in the office.  The ABSOLUTE LAST DAY to donate is Friday, November 20th.  The cards will be delivered the next day to give JAFCO staff time to shop.

We hope every member will participate in this Chanukah mitzvah!

Thanks from Your Social Action Committee

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN
...continues to grow!
gardening-items.jpg

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN needs green thumbs!

Let's put the 'Or' in 'Organic"

Just a few committed diggers/planters/harvesters energize our Garden areas  - you have the infrastructure.  Cultivate your own plot at Beth Or and'ro help our next communal crop of bananas, papayas, other edibles, herbs and medicinals.

Over 20 years ago Beth Orians wer Shomrei Adamah, Guardians of the Earth -- Keepers of the Garden of Eden, aspiring to the highest standards of earth ethics.  We can and will carefully select the veggies and herbs to maximize output, with proven techniques such as companion planting, insect control, etc.  With today's high prices, a garden is economically desirable.  Plus, it is a part of a healthy lifestyle, providing hands-on education and a social communal experience.

Kavanah~ Rabbi Mark:  "...to help build up our people, our institutions and our strength so that we continue to l'takein olam b'malchut Shaddai, 'repair the world under the kingdom of heaven.'  Let's get our hands deliciously "dirty" in this endeavor as we grow and sustain our beloved community."
