Luncheon Honoring Bette and Morris

Thank you to the Beth Or Community for coming out and honoring Bette and Morris Spector November 1st with their very own Elvis! Proceeds from the silent auction help to defray costs of the event.

Thank you to the committee, pretty much in for life now (lol) for their guidance, ideas and getting up at the crack of dawn (or whatever time it was!) to decorate the tables and set up the silent auction. I got the message, make you Jello and you will follow me anywhere!

Chris MacDonald is scheduled to perform SATURDAY NIGHT APRIL 16, 2016 in Aventura. We are considering getting a bus and attending the show.  He told me that tickets go on sale November 3. I know that it is a ways off, but better seats are available if you get them early ; Please call 1-954 341 6005 for tickets. Larger show with his live band.

Thanks again,
Rhoni

If you can volunteer a few hours at the bazaar, we need some help with trouble shooters, and a few people to work the raffle. I hope that everyone plans to attend the bazaar, we have some repeat vendors and exciting new additions.

Gift Cards for Toys for JAFCO

The Beth Or Social Action project for Chanukah is to fulfill some of the wishes of Jewish children who are in foster care in South Florida.

Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options (JAFCO) is an organization whose mission is to care for abused and neglected children and those with disabilities in the Jewish community.  They are collecting the children's wish lists for Chanukah toys and we would like to help them fulfill those wishes.

The Social Action Committee will be collecting gift cards, in any denomination, from either Target, Walmart or Toys R Us ONLY.  Please indicate the dollar value of the gift card by writing it on the card or taping it to the card.

There is box (with a slot) in the Oneg room labeled JAFCO CHANUKAH PROJECT.  You can drop your card in the slot of this box beginning Monday, November 2nd OR you can mail the card to Kathy in the office.  The ABSOLUTE LAST DAY to donate is Friday, November 20th.  The cards will be delivered the next day to give JAFCO staff time to shop.

We hope every member will participate in this Chanukah mitzvah!

Thanks from Your Social Action Committee

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN
...continues to grow!
gardening-items.jpg

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN needs green thumbs!

Let's put the 'Or' in 'Organic"

Just a few committed diggers/planters/harvesters energize our Garden areas  - you have the infrastructure.  Cultivate your own plot at Beth Or and'ro help our next communal crop of bananas, papayas, other edibles, herbs and medicinals.

Over 20 years ago Beth Orians wer Shomrei Adamah, Guardians of the Earth -- Keepers of the Garden of Eden, aspiring to the highest standards of earth ethics.  We can and will carefully select the veggies and herbs to maximize output, with proven techniques such as companion planting, insect control, etc.  With today's high prices, a garden is economically desirable.  Plus, it is a part of a healthy lifestyle, providing hands-on education and a social communal experience.

Kavanah~ Rabbi Mark:  "...to help build up our people, our institutions and our strength so that we continue to l'takein olam b'malchut Shaddai, 'repair the world under the kingdom of heaven.'  Let's get our hands deliciously "dirty" in this endeavor as we grow and sustain our beloved community."
