shabbat shalom
Shabbat Shalom

Welcome Shabbat this Friday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m. with Ellen Siegel leading the service.

Oneg Shabbat, sponsored by Evelyn Cohan, will follow the service.

We wish also to thank the "Oneg Prep" team for taking over the duties of plating and setting out all the goodies this week!

Bibliodrama this Saturday!

It's all about Abraham and the Idols.

10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, October 17.  Get into Abraham's (or Avram's) head.  Get into his father's head.  Get into God's head.  Get into the idols' heads!

What were they all thinking?  What led Avram to become Abraham and veer away from the conventional wisdom of the time?

Dr. Nancy Kirsner will lead the session.  See you there!

Chit Chat

Yes, we're on!
Chit Chat WILL meet this Wednesday!

If you want to be included on the Chit Chat email list, please contact Mike Leslie at hebrewnatl@aol.com
.

A Rockin' Good Time!

LAST CALL FOR RESEVATIONS FOR THE HONORARY EVENT, HONORING BETTE AND MORRIS SPECTOR!!!

Help us celebrate them with an afternoon  of dining, entertainment, dancing and a wonderful silent auction! Don't miss this fun and memorable event. If you have not sent  in your response yet, please call the Temple office TODAY and tell her you will be joining us.

Adult Education Session 1

Tuesday, October 13, 7:00 p.m.

Our first adult education class will be on Tuesday, October 13th at 7 PM at the Temple.

Note the change of the usual 7:30 time to 7:00 because the Presidential Debate starts at 9:00 PM and that way everyone (with a few exceptions) will be home and in front of the TV.

The topic to be discussed is Jewish views of the afterlife which came in #1 on the most wanted list.  As a teaser, Mark wrote, "OK, we are getting old and as we look towards 'the end of our lives' on earth - is it?"

Holiday Bazaar

Our 6th annual holiday bazaar is November 15th. Let's make this the best ever!

If you know anyone who would like to participate, please call Rhoni 305 253 4155. Sorry, no more jewelry vendors!

Those who have been asking, my friend Dixie will be joining us again this year with her beautiful handmade bead jewelry...all the way from Annapolis!

We also need some to produce the flyer for the bazaar. The one from last year is great, just a few things need to be changed.

Celebrate with an Oneg Shabbat!

Oneg Dates are available at various time during the 2015-16 year!

Do you have a family birthday, anniversary, yahrzeit, or another occasion -- or just for no particular reason at all??

It's a wonderful opportunity to recognize, remember, and celebrate with the Beth Or community on Shabbat.

Contact the TBO office for more information.

Interfaith Service
Sunday, October 18, 2015
4:30 p.m

Christ the King will be hosting the this year's interfaith service on October 18 at 4:30 p.m. and  would be delighted for Beth Or to participate!

Pat Matthews, CTK's Music Director, will lead a joint choir that we'd love for TBO choir members to be part of.

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN
...continues to grow!
gardening-items.jpg

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN needs green thumbs!

Let's put the 'Or' in 'Organic"

Just a few committed diggers/planters/harvesters energize our Garden areas  - you have the infrastructure.  Cultivate your own plot at Beth Or and'ro help our next communal crop of bananas, papayas, other edibles, herbs and medicinals.

Over 20 years ago Beth Orians wer Shomrei Adamah, Guardians of the Earth -- Keepers of the Garden of Eden, aspiring to the highest standards of earth ethics.  We can and will carefully select the veggies and herbs to maximize output, with proven techniques such as companion planting, insect control, etc.  With today's high prices, a garden is economically desirable.  Plus, it is a part of a healthy lifestyle, providing hands-on education and a social communal experience.

Kavanah~ Rabbi Mark:  "...to help build up our people, our institutions and our strength so that we continue to l'takein olam b'malchut Shaddai, 'repair the world under the kingdom of heaven.'  Let's get our hands deliciously "dirty" in this endeavor as we grow and sustain our beloved community."

Fair warning!

The Temple office will be closed from Thursday, October 15 through Tuesday, October 20, while Kathy heads up to Philadelphia for a class reunion -- the big one: 50 Years -- and some Philly Food and get-togethers with friends who have known each other since first grade.
