shabbat shalom
Shabbat Shalom

Welcome Shabbat this Friday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. and celebrate Simchat Torah, as we conclude the last reading in Deuteronomy and begin the cycle over again with Genesis!

Rabbi Mark Kram will be on the bima, and volunteers will lift and carry the Torah Scrolls as we sing and dance in celebration.

Oneg Shabbat will follow the service.

klezmer band
Got Klezmer???

Do you have any Klezmer music CD's we might borrow this Friday night?   We just might want to supplement our own unique music with traditional Klezmer sounds for Simchat Torah.

If you do, please leave an email or voicemail at the Temple office this week.  305-235-1419 or bethortemple@aol.com

Adult Education Session 1

Tuesday, October 13, 7:00 p.m.

Our first adult education class will be on Tuesday, October 13th at 7 PM at the Temple.

Note the change of the usual 7:30 time to 7:00 because the Presidential Debate starts at 9:00 PM and that way everyone (with a few exceptions) will be home and in front of the TV.

The topic to be discussed is Jewish views of the afterlife which came in #1 on the most wanted list.  As a teaser, Mark wrote, "OK, we are getting old and as we look towards 'the end of our lives' on earth - is it?"

Holiday Bazaar

Our 6th annual holiday bazaar is November 15th. Let's make this the best ever!

If you know anyone who would like to participate, please call Rhoni 305 253 4155. Sorry, no more jewelry vendors!

Those who have been asking, my friend Dixie will be joining us again this year with her beautiful handmade bead jewelry...all the way from Annapolis!

We also need some to produce the flyer for the bazaar. The one from last year is great, just a few things need to be changed.

Celebrate with an Oneg Shabbat!

Oneg Dates are available at various time during the 2015-16 year!

Do you have a family birthday, anniversary, yahrzeit, or another occasion -- or just for no particular reason at all??

It's a wonderful opportunity to recognize, remember, and celebrate with the Beth Or community on Shabbat.

Contact the TBO office for more information.

Interfaith Service
Sunday, October 18, 2015
4:30 p.m

Christ the King will be hosting the this year's interfaith service on October 18 at 4:30 p.m. and  would be delighted for Beth Or to participate!

Pat Matthews, CTK's Music Director, will lead a joint choir that we'd love for TBO choir members to be part of.

Red Tent October Meeting

...and it's Potluck, so bring the goodies!

We are changing the location of the October 11 meeting to Bette Spector's home.

We will meet at the Palace at a later date when Norma is fully recovered.

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN
...continues to grow!
gardening-items.jpg

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN needs green thumbs!

Let's put the 'Or' in 'Organic"

Just a few committed diggers/planters/harvesters energize our Garden areas  - you have the infrastructure.  Cultivate your own plot at Beth Or and'ro help our next communal crop of bananas, papayas, other edibles, herbs and medicinals.

Over 20 years ago Beth Orians wer Shomrei Adamah, Guardians of the Earth -- Keepers of the Garden of Eden, aspiring to the highest standards of earth ethics.  We can and will carefully select the veggies and herbs to maximize output, with proven techniques such as companion planting, insect control, etc.  With today's high prices, a garden is economically desirable.  Plus, it is a part of a healthy lifestyle, providing hands-on education and a social communal experience.

Kavanah~ Rabbi Mark:  "...to help build up our people, our institutions and our strength so that we continue to l'takein olam b'malchut Shaddai, 'repair the world under the kingdom of heaven.'  Let's get our hands deliciously "dirty" in this endeavor as we grow and sustain our beloved community."

Hey temple members! I want to inform everyone that at Fred Busch's Miami Yoga (located in the JCC) is starting a warm Gentle Flow class. The room will be slightly heated to assist your joints and muscles to warm up and make the yoga safer for your body. This is a beginner class and something I highly recommend if you are looking to get into yoga. The classes will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 9am. First class free!
