Chit Chat

Chit Chat meets at Beth Or Wednesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. to read and discuss items in the news or out there in the world.  We concentrate primarily on issues of
Jewish interest.

food_drive_girl.jpg Yom Kippur Food Donations

Our Beth Or partner, Chapman Partnership for the Homeless, helps more homeless people to move into independent living than does any other shelter in the county.  When a family moves out of  Chapman Partnership  they are provided with "care-packages" that include food for their new home.

On Yom Kippur we are collecting donations of non-perishable food items. (There will be collection boxes in the lobby at Christ the King.) As you shop over the next few weeks, please pick up items like cereal, rice, canned goods, nuts and healthy snacks to contribute to a  generous contribution from Temple Beth Or.

Thank you for your ongoing support for the homeless families in our community.

Yiskor Book Invitations

Members of Beth Or and their families are invited to include listings of remembrance in our annual Yiskor Book, to be distributed at the Yom Kippur service on September 23.

Notices indicating  "last year you remembered"  are going out to those who had listings in the previous book.

Donations of $18 per name are asked to underwrite the production and distribution of the book.  The deadline for entries is Friday, September 11.

Celebrate with an Oneg Shabbat!

Oneg Dates are available at various time during the 2015-16 year!

It's a wonderful opportunity to recognize, remember, and celebrate with the Beth Or community on Shabbat.

Coming up:  September's "Last Friday" Farbrengen Shabbat will be just a couple of days after Yom Kippur, with Sukkot approaching.  If you're interested in leading a short discussion relevant to the season, it's easy to incorporate that into the Shabbat service.

Contact the TBO office for more information.

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN
...continues to grow!
gardening-items.jpg

Beth Or's  ORGANIC  GARDEN needs green thumbs!

Let's put the 'Or' in 'Organic"

Just a few committed diggers/planters/harvesters energize our Garden areas  - you have the infrastructure.  Cultivate your own plot at Beth Or and'ro help our next communal crop of bananas, papayas, other edibles, herbs and medicinals.

Over 20 years ago Beth Orians wer Shomrei Adamah, Guardians of the Earth -- Keepers of the Garden of Eden, aspiring to the highest standards of earth ethics.  We can and will carefully select the veggies and herbs to maximize output, with proven techniques such as companion planting, insect control, etc.  With today's high prices, a garden is economically desirable.  Plus, it is a part of a healthy lifestyle, providing hands-on education and a social communal experience.

Kavanah~ Rabbi Mark:  "...to help build up our people, our institutions and our strength so that we continue to l'takein olam b'malchut Shaddai, 'repair the world under the kingdom of heaven.'  Let's get our hands deliciously "dirty" in this endeavor as we grow and sustain our beloved community."

Hey temple members! I want to inform everyone that at Fred Busch's Miami Yoga (located in the JCC) is starting a warm Gentle Flow class. The room will be slightly heated to assist your joints and muscles to warm up and make the yoga safer for your body. This is a beginner class and something I highly recommend if you are looking to get into yoga. The classes will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 9am. First class free!
