Progressive Dinner

italain-food-items.jpg

The Progressive Dinner is full to capacity!  Thank you to our host families and to our members and friends who responded with their reservations.

We look forward to seeing all the appetizers at the home of Ilien and Keith Hechtman at 6:30 this coming Saturday, January 11.

The address can be found on your invitation, or you can email or call the Temple for particulars.

Once the guests leave the Hechtmans, they will head to their assigned host house.  Hosts are responsible to serve a salad, main dish with some side dishes, bread, and something to drink. Temple Beth Or provides each host house with two bottles of wine -- one red and one white.

You and your guests eat and talk for a couple of hours and leave to return back the Hechtman home by 10 p.m. for the desserts, also provided by many of the attendees. It's a great way to rekindle old friendships and make new ones.

Best,

Annette & Irene

Annette's home number is 305-234-8868

Chit Chat at Beth Or

Chit Chat meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 at the Temple.

We've picked up several interesting articles from reputable sources -- BBC News and the New York Times among them -- and we're ready to launch into topics of local, national and international interest with a distinctly Jewish approach.  We talk about cultural, legal, educational, social, political, religious and secular subjects, with a text usually from the media to start us off.

Now that we are back at the Temple, there's always room for one more, so please don't hesitate.  If you're available, so are we.
If you want to be included on the Chit Chat email list, please contact Mike Leslie at hebrewnatl@aol.com.

bookRed Tent Women's Reading Group

The Red Tent will meet this Sunday at the Temple at 1:00 p.m. to discuss The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot.  Amy Lomaskin will lead the discussion.

The food will be Potluck for this meeting, so get out those pots and baking pans!

Honorary Event Committee Meeting

The committee will meet on Thursday, January 16, at 7:30 p.m., at Rhoni Tannebaum's home to discuss further plans for the event.

Scott and Michelle Dalziel Return to the Lighthouse Cafe

Don't miss this great Duo!

Scott & Michelle are two of my favorite people and their music is exceptional!  They both write music and have beautiful voices and rich harmonies. They have a wonderful stage presence and last time they played at the Lighthouse everyone went WILD for them! They both play guitar (very well), and Michelle also plays a Djembe with brushes - and you'll think there's a full drum kit there.

Folk Alley's artist of the month in 2008
The fresh and soulful sounds of Scott and Michelle's voices, combined with their high energy performance, memorable and meaningful songwriting, and instrumental finnesse, put them in a category all their own. Said to have more sound than two people should be allowed, acoustic Rock or Folk genres could very well hold them but not completely. They dip down into R&B, Jazz, roots, and Blues showing the versatility of this duo. Since their Kerrville Folk Festival and South West Regional Folk Alliance Debut's in 2004, they are gaining recognition and respect from not only audiences, but from venue owners

You can check them out at www.dalziel.net - but just listen to enough to get you to pick up the phone and make your reservation!

So please join us for this great show and check out the coming performances because we have some great music coming  to the Lighthouse Cafe ~  I hope you'll join us!

Contact the Temple office at 305-235-1419 or email bethortemple@aol.com for reservations.

Folks with reservations will be seated prior to walk-ins, so please give us a call or an email to save your spot!
