Havdalah and a Movie

Saturday, August 24, 7:30 p.m.

A Serious Man
 and
Everything is Illuminated, Part II

Please join us for a showing of   'A Serious Man', a Coen Brothers dark comedy with a theme taken from the Book of Job.  The movie is filmed in beautiful Jewish Minneapolis neighborhoods familiar to the Coens and it features 2-3 Rabbis, a wayward wife and a nebbish of a main character, Larry Gopnik (that may drive you bonkers!).    Sprinkled with so many Jewish and Yiddish expressions, there's a glossary at the end!

And for those interested in the ending of 'Everything is Illuminated', at the end of 'A Serious Man', we will reshow the last part of the movie with a pre-tested DVD!

Popcorn and munchies provided!

Hope You Had A Great Summer!

Torah School will open for the new year on Sunday, August 25, at 10:00 a.m., with a special event To Be Announced!

Pre-Rosh Hashanah Cemetery Visits

Sunday, August 25, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

It is a Jewish custom, though not written in the halacha, Jewish law, that we should visit the graves of loved ones the Sunday prior to Rosh Hashanah.  This experience helps to prepare us for the serious internal work we each need to do in order to maximize our personal and communal experience of the High Holidays.

We need to determine which of the three Jewish cemeteries (or all of them) that we need to visit, based on our congregant's family burial sites.

For those whose loved ones are buried out of town, we will conduct a brief ceremony at the first cemetery for you.

Please let the TBO office know whether you have loved ones buried at the following cemeteries:

Mount Nebo/Kendall: 5900 SW 77 Avenue

Mount Nebo/Miami Memorial Gardens, 5505

   NW 3rd Street

Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25th

   Street

Please either email the Temple at bethortemple@aol.com
or phone 305-235-1419.

We need to have this information by Thursday, August 22, in order to set up
the order of visitation.
