Chit Chat at Beth Or

The Chit Chatters are back at Beth Or this Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.

This discussion group addresses topics of local, national and international interest with a distinctly Jewish approach.  We talk about cultural, legal, educational, social, political, religious and secular subjects, with a text usually from the media to start us off.

Now that we are back at the Temple, there's always room for one more, so please don't hesitate.  If you're available, so are we.
If you want to be included on the Chit Chat email list, please contact Mike Leslie at hebrewnatl@aol.com.

Pre- Rosh Hashanah Cemetery Visit

Sunday, August 25, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

It is a Jewish custom, though not written in the halacha, that we should visit the graves of loved ones on the Sunday prior to Rosh Hashanah.  This experience helps to prepare us for the serious internal work we each need to do to maximize our personal an communal experience of the High Holy Days.

We will send a note to congregants to determine which of the three Jewish cemeteries (or possibly all) to visit, based on the congregant's family burial sites.

For those of you whose loved ones are buried out of town, we will conduct a brief ceremony for you at the first cemetery we visit.

Please contact TBO to let us know if you have loved ones buried at any or all of the following:
Mount Nebo/Kendall Memorial Gardens, at 5900 SW 77th Avenue in Miami.
Mount Nebo/Miami Memorial Gardens, at 5505 NW 3rd Street in Miami
Lakeside Memorial Park, at 10301 NW 25 Street in Miami.

Let us know, please by email at  bethortemple@aol.com or by phone at 305-235-1419.

Preparing for the High Holy Days

Wednesday, August 25, at Beth or, time to be announced.

This will be an evening of meditation and preparing one's soul for a fuller experience of the High Holy Day season from Elul through Simchat Torah.

A message from the Temple's Web Maven, Natalie Kaminsky:

Hello everyone! I am excited to be Beth Or's Web Maven and one of our Facebook facilitators. I look forward to keeping Beth Or's cyberspace presence fresh and engaging.

I can't do it without you, though. If you snap a good picture at a temple gathering, send it to me so I can post it on Facebook. Write and send me a short blurb about a meaningful Beth Or experience (perhaps three or four sentences) that may be shared online. That link about a local Jewish happening? Send it over! My email is kaminskynat@gmail.com

Making Beth Or shine one post at a time,

Natalie
