Chit Chat moves back to Beth Or!!!
The Chit Chatters are back at Beth Or starting this Wednesday, April 10, at 10:00 a.m.
This discussion group will address topics of local, national and international interest with a distinctly Jewish approach. We talk about cultural, legal, educational, social, political, religious and secular subjects, with a text usually from the media to start us off.
As we're moving back to the Temple, there's always room for one more, so please don't hesitate. If you're available, so are we.
If you want to be included on the Chit Chat email list, please contact Mike Leslie at hebrewnatl@aol.com.

Leadership Development - Beth Or 2013-14
No full time job openings- just help our new Adminsitration, with or without a big job-title!
For many leadership roles just One Hour Per Week would suffice - assuming a quota of fellow congregants step
up to manage TBO's community, 2013-14.
Don't:
A) quit your day job
B) crowd your busy schedule
Do:
A) commit to add your voice
B) help our Incoming Leadership serve Beth Or's traditions and preserve its future!

Garden and Grounds
Beth Or's ORGANIC GARDEN continues to grow!
Let's put the 'Or' in 'Organic"
Wilfredo Candelaria, a local Master Organic Gardener kindly offers free advice and consultation to Beth Orians wanting to get their hands dirty and fill their plate with home-grown produce! Call Wilfredo (786) 234-7520.
Jeff is almost done with complete wood replacement around raised beds. Inside surfaces coated with Linseed Oil, not paint or laquer = avoid harsh chemical contamination!
Laura Sutton, local Organic Gardener/Farmer is helping us enhance the soil, suppress weeds, upgrade the garden infrastructure, mulch and fertilize the 5 immature banana trees. The remaining beds will soon be 'Fallowed' and 'Top Dressed' with hay, ready for planting next week or in September.
Laura advises:
Vegetables to plant in South Florida in March: cantaloupes, mustard, onions, okra, pole beans, radish, snap beans, summer squash, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, watermelon
Vegetables to plant in South Florida in April: lima beans, pole beans, snap beans, southern peas, summer squash
Four Raised Bed Custodians (so far):
1-Jane Weinstock 3' x 8'
2-Mark Rosenbloom 4' x 4'
3-Pat Barron 3' x 8'
4- Linda Steinberg-Lewis 3' x 8'
So, do you want to operate one of the remaining beds? There's no charge - most supplies freely available (or BYO.) Depending on the level of participation we may have a workshop or training session this season >>>
>>>OFFER: CONTACT JEFF TUCKER JMTucker007@gmail.com TO CLAIM A RAISED BED To Grow Your Own!
Do's and Don'ts:
- Don't step on a bed (your weight compresses the soil, reducing 'friability')
- If you don't know what to do-ASK
- Learn as much as you can about organic-veganic methods- Rodale's magazine is a good resource
Kavanah by Rabbi Mark "...to help build up our people, our institutions and our strength so that we continue to l'takein olam b'malchut Shaddai, 'repair the world under the kingdom of heaven.' Let's get our hands deliciously "dirty" in this endeavor as we grow and sustain our beloved community."
Story: We are Shomrei Adamah, Guardians of the Earth or Keepers of the Garden of Eden. To start off we will be practical and do whatever works- but we aspire to the highest standards of earth ethics summarized by Veganic Gardening. We will carefully select the veggies and herbs to maximize output, balanced cultivation, companion planting, insect control etc. Square Foot Method optimizes density of various plants' space and creates orderly appearance. With today's high prices for quality veggies and herbs, a garden is economically desirable. Plus it is part of a healthy lifestyle, good education, and a social communal experience. All those with green (or any color) thumbs are welcome to cultivate with us.
Jeffrey M. Tucker,
Garden Manager

And Speaking of TBO Grounds
You should see the the renovation of our School Building's frontage! It's colorful and architecturally interesting with plant-filled mini-gardens that look like they were always meant to be there. A big Well Done! to Adam and his group.
We're working on scheduling the repaving of the area immediately in front of the school building so as not to conflict with upcoming activities.
Also a plaque honoring older brother David's Eagle Scout Enhancement-of-the-Chickee Project will be installed on the chickee's NW corner post!

Thanks to the Volunteers!
Your Social Action Committee would like to thank the following wonderful volunteers for helping at Chapman Partnership, a homeless center in Homestead Florida:
- Bette and Morris Spector
- Ellen and John Hanson
- Mimi Eager
- Mitchell Belkin
all of whom volunteered on Easter Sunday and served lunch to the men, women, and children at this predominantly family facility.
Chapman Partnership (which used to be called Community Partnership for the Homeless) is dedicated to ending the cycle of homelessness with programs in education, job training, and job placement.
TBO helped out the kitchen staff. Because it was Easter, the usual Church members could not come. But this wonderful group did creating an efficient and fun "assembly line".
Your SAC and Chapman thanks you.
