media news On September 12, 2013, Calgary's CKMX flipped from classic country to an all-comedy format as Funny 1060 to feature stand up comedy bits performed by major stand-up and improvisational comedians. Launched to coincide with the Calgary Comedy Festival, the station is one of several Bell-owned stations to air programming from the 24/7 Comedy.

media moves Dave Rutherford has retired from Calgary's CHQR.Now hosting from 9 to noon are Roger Kincade and Erin Kelly. The new afternoon host is Dave Taylor, formerly a Calgary MLA.Over at Edmonton's CFCW, James Gruff Gushnowski, replaced Danny Hooper as co-host of their morning show with Sharon Mallon.

Alberta Radio Station: CKXU Lethbridge
CKXU radio CKXU-FM is a campus radio station broadcasting at 88.3 FM, from the University of Lethbridge. CKXU began as CKUL in 1972, when a public address system was set up in University Hall to broadcast musical content inside the building.The station was managed by a three-member executive under the auspices of the University of Lethbridge Students' Union.

NUTV is Alberta's only non-profit independent community access tv station and one of the oldest campus-based, tv production societies in Canada. Established in 1983, NUTV attracts viewers from the University of Calgary community and beyond. It is part of the University of Calgary Tri-Media Alliance, comprising of The Gauntlet, CJSW 90.9, and NUTV.

Alberta Film: Road to Saddle River
Road to Saddle River The Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA) is celebrating their 40th year by partnering with the Edmonton International Film Festival (EIFF) to provide a free screening of Road to Saddle River at Metro Cinema on September 29. Shot in Alberta, the film is a comic odyssey of an East European butcher, the Cowboy Kid, heading west to find Saddle River.
