So many of the projects I have been dreaming about are coming true this month. The new QuakerSpeak videos and the representative engagement materials for World Quaker Day. The initial round of applications for the Traveling Ministry Corps. And for the first time in 10 years, a new design for fwccamericas.org that will launch at the beginning of October.

I thank God, the Section staff, all the yearly meeting representatives, and all our donors for your many contributions to this work. Together we are connecting Friends, crossing cultures and changing lives. I can see it so clearly now.

In the Light,

cmca logo Introducing the 2017 Section Meeting Speakers Part Three: Carl Magruder

We are thrilled to announce the three Friends who will bring the message to morning plenary worship at the 2017 Section Meeting! Kirenia Criado (Cuba Yearly Meeting), Carl Magruder (Pacific Yearly Meeting), and Jonathan Vogel-Borne (New England Yearly Meeting) will be joining us at the next gathering of the Section of the Americas. Read more about Carl below.

Carl Magruder
Pacific Yearly Meeting

Carl Magruder is a "cradle Quaker."  He grew up spending lots of time in fields and forests, creeks and hills, and on the shore of the Pacific Ocean.  He feels closest to God in the midst of Creation, "the text God wrote Godself."  Carl has a Master's Degree in the Sociology, where he studied the human/earth relationship. He later got a Master's of Divinity degree, and is currently working as a chaplain in end of life care, supported by Strawberry Creek Friends Meeting.  Carl will be exploring the Biblical concept of "Shalom" as it relates to peace between and among the Earth's human and non-human communities.

Read about Jonathan Vogel-Borne and Kirenia Criado in our previous issues. For more information about the 2017 Section Meeting, go to our Events page.
Traveling Ministry Corps Deadline is September 30th

The deadline for applications to join the Traveling Ministry Corps is at the end of this month. If you are ready to share your ministry, go to our website for more information!

If your meeting is interested in hosting a visitor, we will continue accepting requests from meetings on a rolling basis, year-round.

"How Many Quakers Are There in the World?  And Where Are They?" - New FWCC-QuakerSpeak Video Coming Soon

The second installment of the FWCC - QuakerSpeak videos will be here on September 15th!

How Many Quakers Are There in the World? And Where Are They?

Our next QuakerSpeak video will feature Gretchen Castle, General Secretary of FWCC's World Office, as she discusses where we can find Friends around the world.

This will be a great resource to use for World Quaker Day (October 2nd), along with the accompanying Religious Education materials from QREC

World Quaker Day is October 2nd!

The theme for WQD 2016 is, "Inspired by Faith - Witnessing Together in the World". Now is a great time to plan how you can celebrate with your meeting.

Some ideas include:

- The FWCC/QuakerSpeak videos, which come packaged with helpful religious education materials!

- A sunrise worship

- A photo that gathers everyone present after worship

For more ideas on how to bring this message to your meeting on Sunday, October 2, or to see how others have celebrated in past years, go to our WQD page, worldquakerday.org or the WQD Facebook page.

Or, share your pictures and WQD messages on our Facebook or Instagram pages!
