As the first anniversary of my hire at FWCC approaches, I am reflecting on all of the new experiences I've had, both as a worker and as a Quaker. From reviewing a complex budget to meeting new Friends near and far, it has been a challenging and enlightening time for me. I have had the chance to learn new skills and to loosen some of the rigid notions I had about the Religious Society of Friends.

As I start to find my thread in weaving the tapestry, I look forward to many more new experiences and conversations with representatives and supporters of our work. The Section Meeting in 2017 is starting to take shape - read below and check our Events page for more information! And our upcoming seri
es of QuakerSpeak videos will kick off later this month.

I feel grateful for the chance to connect with Friends across the Americas, and I hope that you, too are finding something in FWCC's work to be thankful for - whether it's a new perspective on Quaker thought today, or the chance to gather with Friends at an FWCC event.

In the Light,

Blythe Davenport
Coordinator for Communications and Administration

We are thrilled to announce the three speakers who will be joining us at the 2017 Section Meeting! Kirenia Criado (Cuba Yearly Meeting), Carl Magruder (Pacific Yearly Meeting), and Jonathan Vogel-Borne (New England Yearly Meeting) have all agreed to bring the message in our morning plenary worship at the next gathering of the Section of the Americas. Read more about Jonathan below.

Jonathan Vogel-Borne
New England Yearly Meeting

Jonathan Vogel-Borne is a lifelong Friend raised in Orange Grove Meeting, Pacific Yearly Meeting. Traveling widely across the full Quaker spectrum, from evangelical to liberal, Jonathan's ministry is to seek deeper unity and a clarity of vision and witness among us. He and his spouse, Minga Claggett-Borne served as Resident Friends of Cambridge (MA) Monthly Meeting from 1985-1990. Jonathan was the lead staff person at New England Yearly Meeting from 1991 to 2013. He currently serves as clerk of the Finance Committee for Friends World Committee for Consultation Section of the Americas.

More information will follow in subsequent e-newsletters about our other two speakers.

Quaker Thought Today

One of the ways that modern Quakers are "publishers of Truth" is by blogging, sharing their thoughts, experiences and images online.

FWCC's website contains a short  list of Quaker bloggers that includes Martin Kelley (editor of Friends Journal), Anthony Manousos (peace activist and author of numerous books, including Transformative Quakers and Howard and Anna Brinton: Reinventors of Quakerism in the 20th Century), and Peggy Senger Morrison (Quaker pastor, motorcyclist and author of  Miracle Motors: A Pert Near True Story).

To see our list of Quaker bloggers, check out our list of blogs on Quaker Thought Today. If you'd like to be included in this list, please let us know!

Buscamos bloggers cuáqueros que escriben en español para que podamos incluirlos en nuestra página web. ¡Gracias!
