I would like to thank all the folks who made a donation to the Friends World Committee in the last year. We depend on your contributions to make this work - connecting Friends, crossing cultures, changing lives - possible.

Every so often, I hear someone say that they wouldn't want to do fundraising as part of their job. I find that very often it involves talking to the same wonderful people who are involved in every other part of the Friends World Committee about why we are committed to this work. And that is a joy for me.

In his classic work, The Spirituality of Fundraising, Henry Nouwen said, "By calling us to deeper commitment to our particular ministry, fundraising helps to make visible the Kingdom that is already among us." Thank you for helping make the Kingdom visible among Friends.

In friendship,RM6WC

Diverse range of speakers coming to our programs this year
Friends representing a variety of yearly meetings and backgrounds will share the spotlight at the four Section Consultations that take place starting February 21st in El Salvador, and concluding in April.  Most of the speaker biographies can now be found on our website.

Friends thinking about participating in the El Salvador event should register by next week. If you have questions, please contact us. Registration is also open for the Sacramento and High Point consultations.

Look for registration to be up for the La Paz, Bolivia conference in the coming week, along with many more details.

2013 Annual Report
Did you see our 2013 annual report? You can find it on our website, in the sidebar.  Even though we won't have a traditional Section Meeting in March 2014, we will be posting the 2013 committee reports to our website in February.
New Representatives Handbook for 2014
"I'm a new representative from my yearly meeting. What do I do now? How can I help?"

Have you had this question in your mind? We will be sending out the Reps Handbook to all current Yearly Meeting Representatives to the Section of the Americas this year. It has been a few years since this was printed or distributed, and it has been a major project to update and translate the whole thing. For new Representatives who read English, we will also enclose a copy of Herbert Hadley's fascinating history of FWCC, Quakers World Wide, which was first published in 1991. For anyone else who would like a copy of Hadley's book, we are happy to mail you one, but we suggest a contribution of $5 to cover the costs of shipping and handling. Email us to request your copy today!
