Alumni Spotlight

TYPE DESIGN WITH TAL LEMING, BFA 1996

Type designer and letterer Tal Leming has played a significant, often leading role in the current and future use and creation of type. Fewer than 10 years after graduating from the LSU School of Art with a BFA in graphic design, he left the world-renowned, prolific type foundry, House Industries, to start his own foundry, Type Supply. He teaches a type design class at MICA and is known for pushing the boundaries of type technology.

Tal hasn't let his successful career go to his head, and he is proud of LSU, where he designed his first typeface and his career started. "It's a lot of fun, and I'm lucky to be able to work with so many interesting, smart, awesome clients and colleagues."
