SPAAR Eagan Office to Close Early October 18

SPAAR's Eagan office will close at 3pm on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016. Regular office hours will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

 
 

SPAAR Bylaw Vote Results

Last week SPAAR issued a ballot with respect to proposed changes to the Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS® Bylaws, Article 11, Section 3. The ballot included one question regarding (per recommendation of the Board of Directors) the addition of one Director, and one additional committee chair - chair of the Affiliate committee, to the Board of Directors. The voting period was October 12 through October 14. Results are as follows:

  • Number of ballots sent: 6,790
  • Number of votes received: 456
  • Votes in favor: 338
  • Votes against : 118

With 74.1% of votes in favor of the change, the changes to Article 11, Section 3 were approved. Changes will go into effect January 1, 2017.

Twin Cities Residential Real Estate Market Strong Through Third Quarter

Released October 14, 2016 - Demand for residential real estate has remained high through the first three quarters of 2016, propping up sales and prices despite heavy reductions in inventory and months of supply in the Twin Cities. Key residential real estate metrics for September 2016 include:

  • New Listings in the metro area increased 5.6 percent over prior year to 6,727.
  • Pending Sales were down 0.3 percent to 4,657.
  • Inventory levels fell 16.1 percent to 13,918 units.
  • The Median Sales Price increased 6.1 percent to $259,900.
  • Days on Market was down 13.8 percent to 56 days.
  • Months Supply of Homes for Sale was down 20.0 percent to 2.8 months.

At Home With Diversity, Scholarships Available!

As part of its mission to promote fair housing practices, SPAAR’s Diversity Committee is offering scholarships for members who complete the At Home With Diversity (AHWD) Class by 12/31/2016. This online course is approved for 8 hours of Continuing Education credits.

Scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Members who will submit proof of course completion will receive reimbursement for $50.00 of the $99.00 tuition, while supplies last. ISD 191 to hold REALTOR® Summit

With community support, Burnsville High School is transforming the learning environment for students by helping them identify what they like, recognize what they are good at, and plan for future opportunities that lead to additional education and/or employment.

One91 is hosting business tours of the new high school, classrooms, and programs that most closely align with the types of businesses in the community. Amongst the scheduled tours is Realtor Summit on November 10, from 9am-11am.

Cultural Insights Roundtable: Participants Needed

Do you have experience working with diverse homebuyers? Curious about cultural traditions related to housing and home-buying? SPAAR is looking for volunteers to join a panel discussion on Cultural Insights. This discussion will be held at SPAAR's Eagan office on November 2, from 11:30am to 1pm. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required to participate.
