Information Regarding a Forthcoming Bylaw Change Ballot

This announcement informs you of a ballot you will receive in the near future with respect to proposed changes to the Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS® Bylaws. The Board approved changes to the SPAAR Bylaws with respect to Article 11, Section 3.

The Board recommends the addition of one Director, and one additional committee chair - chair of the Affiliate committee, to the Board of Directors.

You will receive an email announcing balloting is live; the email will contain the link to the information required to cast your ballot. Voting will open on October 12 and close October 14, 2016. If approved, changes to Article 11, Section 3 will go into effect January 1, 2017.

 
 

Grand Opening at SPAAR's Eagan Office October 11

Have you heard? SPAAR's Eagan Office has moved to 4490 Erin Drive. Join us for a grand opening celebration on Tuesday, October 11, from 1:30 to 3:30pm. Light refreshments will be served.

 
 

Membership Dues Renewal Reminder

Don't forget to rewnew your 2017 SPAAR Membership Dues. Orders are on your account and ready to be paid; payment must be received on or before October 31, 2016, to avoid a late fee.

 
 

Call for Nominations: SPAAR Awards

REALTORŪ of the Year
Nominate a REALTORŪ to win this year's REALTORŪ of the Year Award for outstanding service in the industry. This person demonstrates dedication to the real estate profession and upholds a professional business reputation. The recipient is also involved in the greater real estate community through state or national REALTORŪ organizations and/or affiliated groups. REALTORŪ of the Year is also involved in non-real estate related community service activities. Entries must be submitted by November 30, 2016. Better Communities Award
We are looking for members who are doing great things in the community for SPAAR's "Better Communities" Award. The award is given annually and its recipient honored at the Winter Social. A financial contribution of $1,000 will be awarded to the recipient’s charitable organization of choice. Eligibility Criteria: Nominees must be REALTORŪ or Affiliate members in good standing with the Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORSŪ. Nominees should be a recognized leader in some community endeavor. Their contributions to a program and/or an organization should result in improving the quality of life in our service area and serve to demonstrate they care about the total well-being of the community. The award is designed to recognize individual contributions, not association or company wide efforts. However, if an individual within a company is instrumental to the triumph of a group effort, he or she is eligible. Download a NOMINATION FORM and submit to Joe McKinley by December 1, 2016.

 
 

Burnsville Promise Program to hold Informational Session for REALTORS®

The Burnsville Promise Program is hosting an informational session for work in and near Independent School District 191. The program is set for Thursday, Nov. 10, from 9am to 11am, at Burnsville High School. Agenda is as follows:

  • Greeting, Welcome
  • Information about Vision One91, district changes through the reconfiguration of grades, and Pathways at the high school
  • Tour of the high school and learning spaces
  • One91 Community Engagement and Outreach (leveraging cultural, racial and linguistic community/district assets)
  • Q & A
  • Closing and Take-Aways

Have You Completed the Quadrennial Period Code of Ethics Training?

The mandated four-year cycle to meet the Code of Ethics Training for The National Association of REALTORSŪ membership requirement ends December 31, 2016. If you do not have the NAR Code of Ethics completed by December 31, 2016 your membership will be suspended per the NAR bylaws. If your name is not on the LIST (Updated 9/28/16) then you need to complete the NAR Code of Ethics. If you have taken an approved NAR Code of Ethics training class please be sure to submit proof of completion to SPAAR at spaar@spaar.com.

Cultural Insights Roundtable: Participants Needed

Do you have experience working with diverse homebuyers? Curious about cultural traditions related to housing and home-buying? SPAAR is looking for volunteers to join a panel discussion on Cultural Insights. This discussion will be held at SPAAR's Eagan office on November 2, from 11:30am to 1pm. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required to participate.

  REALTORS® Charitable Foundation Announces Grant Opportunities

SPAAR and the REALTORS® Charitable Foundation is accepting applications for grants from nonprofit, community organizations with missions related to housing or homelessness. Organizations are asked to submit a letter of inquiry, including a summary of mission, proposed purpose of grant, opportunities for partnership with SPAAR members and proof of nonprofit status.
