Call for Nominations: SPAAR Awards
REALTOR® of the Year
Nominate a REALTOR® to win this year's REALTOR® of the Year Award for outstanding service in the industry. This person demonstrates dedication to the real estate profession and upholds a professional business reputation. The recipient is also involved in the greater real estate community through state or national REALTOR® organizations and/or affiliated groups. REALTOR® of the Year is also involved in non-real estate related community service activities. Entries must be submitted by November 30, 2016. Better Communities Award
We are looking for members who are doing great things in the community for SPAAR's "Better Communities" Award. The award is given annually and its recipient honored at the Winter Social. A financial contribution of $1,000 will be awarded to the recipient’s charitable organization of choice. Eligibility Criteria: Nominees must be REALTOR® or Affiliate members in good standing with the Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS®. Nominees should be a recognized leader in some community endeavor. Their contributions to a program and/or an organization should result in improving the quality of life in our service area and serve to demonstrate they care about the total well-being of the community. The award is designed to recognize individual contributions, not association or company wide efforts. However, if an individual within a company is instrumental to the triumph of a group effort, he or she is eligible. Download a NOMINATION FORM and submit to Joe McKinley by December 1, 2016.
Minnesota Legislature Authorizes the Creation of ‘Temporary Family Health Care Dwellings’
Senate File 2555 passed both the Minnesota House of Representatives, the Minnesota Senate and was signed into law by Governor Dayton. The official text can be view in session laws chapter 111. Effective September 1, 2016 the bill establishes and authorizes the uses of a ‘Temporary Health Care Dwelling.’
Cultural Insights Roundtable: Participants Needed
Do you have experience working with diverse homebuyers? Curious about cultural traditions related to housing and home-buying? SPAAR is looking for volunteers to join a panel discussion on Cultural Insights. This discussion will be held at SPAAR's Eagan office on November 2, from 11:30am to 1pm. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required to participate.

SPAAR and the REALTORS® Charitable Foundation is accepting applications for grants from nonprofit, community organizations with missions related to housing or homelessness. Organizations are asked to submit a letter of inquiry, including a summary of mission, proposed purpose of grant, opportunities for partnership with SPAAR members and proof of nonprofit status.
