Legislative Impact Day is March 16

Join Minnesota REALTORS® for Legislative Impact Day from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday, March 16, at the Minnesota History Center. The event schedule is as follows:

• 10am-Noon: Meetings with your legislators
• 1pm-4pm: Legislative program at the MN History Center - 345 West Kellogg Blvd, St. Paul:
  • Todd Rapp, President, Himle Rapp & Company: The Political Atmosphere in Minnesota
    
  • Dr. Laura Kalambokidis, Minnesota's State Economist: This program will provide historical content and an outlook of key economic indicators for licensees to share with their consumers and help them prepare for the upcoming economic changes that impact real estate. (1.0 hour of CE pending)
    
  • Commissioner Mary Tingerthal, Minnesota Housing: Minnesota Housing Programs and Initiatives
    
• 4pm-5:30pm: Reception with legislators at the MN History Center - appetizers and cash bar available

The cost to attend the event is $25/person + service charge. Parking is available at the MN History Center at the rate of $6 per car.

Did you know that SPAAR has eight member-driven committees? Volunteer members of these committees play a vital role in guiding the association's directives. SPAAR is always welcoming new committee members. Committees cover a variety of topics and include: affiliate, communications, community engagement, diversity, government affairs, MetroYPN (young professionals network), professionalism, and RPAC. SPAAR & BATC Seeking Little Library Designs; Book Drive to Follow

SPAAR's Community Engagement Committee has partnered with the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) to bring Little Libraries to several communities including Apple Valley, Oakdale, and Anoka. Libraries will be designed by SPAAR and BATC members. Pictured, at right, are two designs that have been submitted and selected. Submissions are currently being accepted for the third location. Got an idea? Submit to amacleod@spaar.com by March 11, 2016. Libraries will be built and installed later this spring. A book drive to stock the libraries will be starting in March. Stay tuned for more details.

SPAAR Community Engagement Committee Collecting Items for Blue Star Mothers and US Military Stationed Overseas

The SPAAR Community Engagement Committee is collecting goods, gift cards, phone cards and monetary donations (checks made out to Blue Star Mothers) for their Easter "We Care" packages for our military stationed overseas. Donations can be dropped off at all three SPAAR locations now through February 26.
