On Deck

Just as the last of our late season blueberries finished blooming, the farm's locust trees burst out with flowers.  The locust  blossoms are a favorite  with Al Machinski's bees. The spring honey harvest looks very promising and we will announce availability as soon as Al begins extraction and packing

Tomato Planting

As soon as we finished sending last week's newsletter our next order of business was planting three hundred tomato plants for the CSA.  The plastic mulch shown in the photo above is key to weed control and water conservation.
 
Attention Full Season Members: 

Additional items are available to add to your weekly distribution with pre-payment at a discounted price. 
Items include:
Grabski Farms eggs, regularly $4.00 per dozen are $3.60 per dozen, $64.80 for the season
Beelzebub Salsa one pint, regularly $6.99 are $6.29, $113.80 for the season
Middlefield Cheeses 8oz, regularly $5.49 are $4.99, $89.82 for the season
Happy Mug Coffee one pound package, regularly $9.99, $9.29, $167.22 for the season.
Salsa, Cheese, and coffee will be random varieties and flavor selections each week.
Please let us know if you would like to add any of these items to your weekly share.

2016 CSA

The 2016 USDA Certified Organic weekly shares will be approximately one half bushel in size. This volume is roughly equal to a full paper grocery bag. Non corporate distributions will be on Saturdays.   

We offer two options:   
  FULL season memberships will consist of eighteen weekly distributions beginning on Saturday, June 18th. with the final distribution on Saturday, October 15th. 

CORE season memberships will consist of ten weekly distributions beginning on Saturday, July 16th, with the final distribution on Saturday, September 17th.

The cost of the full season membership is $600.00 
Full season membership with home delivery is $750.00

The cost of the core season membership is $350.00 
Core season membership with home delivery is $435.00
 
    In addition to picking up the shares here at the farm we are using the same drop sites as last season. Competitive Gear Bicycle Shop in Millcreek, and  the Whole Foods Co-Op in Erie.     
Home delivery is available in the city of Erie and the following townships;  Fairview, Franklin, Girard, Greene, Harborcreek, McKean, Millcreek, Summit, Washington, and Waterford

  Sign up forms are available at the farm, or you can sign up electronically on the CSA page at www.hunterfarmsorganic.com  Previous members with no change in contact information can simply let us know you wish to sign up.  We can complete the form for you using the information in our records.
