Pollinator
Pollinator Heaven

Usually farmers can complain about any kind of weather, but this latest stretch has been about perfect.  Although the blueberry bloom was a little late getting started the slow motion succession of opening flowers combined with the settled spring weather has provided a perfect window for pollination.  This scenario should produce good sized berries and a full potential yield.

Sod Bustin'
This photo was taken just after last week's newsletter was sent.  Richard is using a "Middle Buster" plow to rough out the furrows for the CSA's potatoes.  We planted 250 seed potatoes and we can't wait for the first "new' potatoes of the season.  The rest of the week was spent tilling the rest of the vegetable field, planting squash, onions, etc., and installing the irrigation equipment. Once Memorial weekend is behind us in go the tomatoes, sweet potatoes, peppers, and other frost sensitive crops.

New this year!
Announcing a corporate CSA program.
We will begin partnering with area companies and institutions that have employees wishing to receive CSA distributions. Deliveries will be made directly to the partner's location on either Thursday, or Friday afternoons near the end of the business day. We believe this will allow us to more efficiently spread out our harvest and distributions while providing convenience and additional opportunities for area residents to receive fresh, local, organic produce. Please contact the farm for additional details.

In addition to picking up the shares here at the farm we anticipate using the same drop sites as last season. Competitive Gear Bicycle Shop in Millcreek, and  the Whole Foods Co-Op in Erie.
Home delivery is available in the city of Erie and the following townships;  Fairview, Franklin, Girard, Greene, Harborcreek, McKean, Millcreek, Summit, Washington, and Waterford

Sign up forms are available at the farm, or you can sign up electronically on the CSA page at www.hunterfarmsorganic.com  Previous members with no change in contact information can simply let us know you wish to sign up.  We can complete the form for you using the information in our records.

We are very much looking forward to serving our 2016 CSA members! Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
