Road Trip
In addition to the changing seasons and the wide variety of jobs on the farm we also appreciate the off farm opportunities our operation provides.
We lucked out with the fine spring weather on Monday. We experienced a light frost at dawn, but fortunately the blueberry blossoms were not affected. The clear calm morning was welcome on our way to pick up our store's cheese and butter order at Middlefield Cheese Co-op in Ohio. It was a perfect day to stop along the way and enjoy some of the 18 covered bridges in neighboring Ashtabula County. Our region has amazingly beautiful countryside right out our back doors.

Sunbathing
Although we direct seed most of the vegetables we grow for the CSA we also start quite a few ahead indoors under grow lights. When the weather mellows we begin moving them in and out of the barn in trailers as the conditions permit. A breeze blowing cross the new plants, as well as some fluctuating temperatures helps to "harden off" the seedlings and prepares them for transplanting into the tilled beds.

New this year!
Announcing a corporate CSA program.
We will begin partnering with area companies and institutions that have employees wishing to receive CSA distributions. Deliveries will be made directly to the partner's location on either Thursday, or Friday afternoons near the end of the business day. We believe this will allow us to more efficiently spread out our harvest and distributions while providing convenience and additional opportunities for area residents to receive fresh, local, organic produce. Please contact the farm for additional details.
In addition to picking up the shares here at the farm we anticipate using the same drop sites as last season. Competitive Gear Bicycle Shop in Millcreek, and the Whole Foods Co-Op in Erie.
Home delivery is available in the city of Erie and the following townships; Fairview, Franklin, Girard, Greene, Harborcreek, McKean, Millcreek, Summit, Washington, and Waterford
Sign up forms are available at the farm, or you can sign up electronically on the CSA page at www.hunterfarmsorganic.com Previous members with no change in contact information can simply let us know you wish to sign up. We can complete the form for you using the information in our records. We are very much looking forward to serving our 2016 CSA members! Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
