Weighty Matters
 
 
With our tractor repaired, we were able to accomplish a final mowing between the blueberry rows. As shown in the photo above, the weight of the developing berries bends the canes into the row middles.  Before long we will do more harm than good moving equipment through the fields.


Sizing, and Coloring
 
The berries are maturing nicely and we estimate the first picking to be around the 12th. of July. This coming week's forecast of cooler than normal temperatures may push that date back a few days, but we will begin installing the bird exclusion nets at the beginning of next week. Regardless of the weather, the birds will help themselves long before the berries are ripe enough for us.

A Glimps of Summer!


This week's distribution coincides not only with the summer solstice ushering in "official" summer, but it also begins transitioning us to what we all normally think of as summer produce.
In addition to the season's first zuccini, and just in time for picnic slaws, this week's share includes savoy cabbage. Also new this week is aromatic, anise flavored fennel. Rounding out this week's fresh, Certified Organic produce assortment are Lacinato Kale, and Green Lollo Lettuce.

Attention Members who pick up their shares at the drop sites.
The Saturday after this one is the 4th. of July Holiday. The Whole Foods Co-op, and Competitive Gear Will be closed that day.
We offer the options of a Friday pickup at those locations, or a farm pickup on Saturday the 4th. The Co-op is open until 9:00 pm. on Friday the 3rd. , and Competitive gear is open until 8:00 pm. Please make your pickup preference known as soon as possible.

Core Season Members:
The core season begins just two weeks from this Saturday. All final payments are due at this time. Please let us know if you would like cheese, coffee, or eggs included in your distributions in order to receive the discounted price.
