Two At A Time

Grandson Eli leans into his task and starts the process of installing the bird exclusion nets over the blueberry fields. Each bag holds 200 feet of net, with more than 2,000 row feet of berries, plus the nets for the sides tops and bottoms of the fields, we have about a half mile of net to deploy.

 Holiday Weekend Schedule

Both drop sites, Competetive Gear, and the Whole Foods Co-op are closed on Saturday, July 4th.

CSA members who normally pick-up at those sites have several options.  We can deliver your share to your drop-site on Friday, July 3rd, around 12:00 noon. The shares will then be available for pick-up until 8:00 pm, at Competitive Gear, and until 9:00 at the Co-op. If you choose this option, and haven't already done so, please let us know that you want to pick-up at the drop-sites on Friday.  If we don't hear from you, your share will be held at the farm.

Shares will be available at the farm for all members to pick up from 12:00 noon Friday the 3rd, until 8:00 pm. We will also have shares available on Saturday the 4th. from 9:00 am, until 5:00 pm. OR until the last share is picked up. The farm store will close when all shares have been distributed on Saturday.

Home deliveries will be on the normal schedule Saturday the 4th. unless we receive other instructions from those members.

This week's shares include a few familiar items including Green Kale, Red Russian Kale, Rainbow Chard, and Zuccini.  New for this week are a few early Green Bell Peppers, Chives, and Garlic Scapes. For the uninitiated, garlic scapes are the flower stalks from hardneck garlic. They have a fresh, mild garlic flavor and can be chopped uncooked and added to salads.  Another great way to go is a sautee using a combination of this week's chard, kale, and scapes. There are endless variations on the theme but simply cutting the greens into serving sized pieces, sauteeing in olive oil, then salt and pepper to taste is an easy, tasty way to start.
