Farm News
The young male cat pictured above is the latest in an unfortunately long line of animals abandoned, lost, and often just dumped in the "country" by people who simply want rid of unwanted pets. Truly feral cats are often seen here but spook and run full tilt when we are still a long distance away. Animals like the kitty above are somewhat afraid but have obviously been around people at some point. This handsome guy showed up about a month ago with his ribs showing from near starvation. He meowed continually but would only come so close when called. We have been feeding him and he has calmed down a little but still nips and scratches when we try and pet him at his food dish. Even though he has a ways to go in order to be totally domesticated we believe he would make a wonderful pet. We already have two rescue cats that showed up here in the past and as much as we would like to keep them all it is impractical.

We hope that someone reading the newsletter would like to adopt and care for this guy before winter sets in. As stated he is still afraid and defensive but with a little time and TLC he should be a great companion. Please let us know if you are interested.

Nearing The End

This Saturday, October the 18th, marks the second to last distribution of the 2014 CSA season and many of you have asked when and how the reusable distribution bins should be returned at the end of the season. The final 2014 CSA distribution (October 25th) will be provided in a disposable container that does not need to be returned, so please remember to return your bins next week, and we'll get them cleaned up and safely stored away in preparation for the 2015 CSA. Thanks very much for you cooperation!
