If you've been following the newsletter for a while, you may recall earlier mentions of the plot of native pollinator habitat maintained here at Hunter Farms. This patch of native plants includes a wide variety of flora that attract and form a habitat for pollinating birds and insects. The plot is home to flowering plants in spring, summer, and fall and many late season blooms are now in full swing. Above you see one such bloom, that of the purple coneflower, the source of the popular medicinal supplement Echinacea and a plant whose pollen and nectar are favored by a variety of native bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

CSA Distribution Bin Reminder
As a continuing reminder throughout the season, we ask that all CSA participants please remember to return their distribution bins each week. Sustainability and food safety are of supreme importance to us, and these reusable bins, which are sanitized each week, are an important part of our efforts to operate in a sustainable, responsible manner. We very much appreciate your cooperation. Thanks!

Blueberry Salsa Season is Nearly Over!
As a reminder, we are continuing to stock two recent additions to the farm store, both created in collaboration with Eric Laughery of Beelzebub Salsa. They're unique culinary experiences you won't find anywhere else. The first is Beelzebub's brand new Blueberry Salsa, made with Hunter Farms Organic Blueberries just picked from our fields. It's as fresh as fresh can be and unlike any other salsa we've tried. Of course we're biased, but if you already love our berries and Beelzebub's salsas, we think you'll love the combination. This week we'll be receiving the last batch of the season, so stop by and grab some before it's gone!
In addition to the blueberry salsa above, we also have a limited supply of pickled organic asparagus grown here at the farm and pickled using a unique recipe Laughery crafted just for us. It's a twist on asparagus you won't soon forget. A little sweet, a little spicy, and incredibly full of flavor, we think it's another winning combination.
