During our harvest season we always make it a point to donate a portion of our crops to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Just as in the summer with our crops, we donate a portion of our handcrafted, Fresh Little Farm Girl soaps, to the Food Bank in the winter. Pictured above are some of these bars with simple bands listing the ingredients. Just as Community Supported Agriculture programs allow the larger community to support local farms, we believe it is our responsibility as farmers to support the larger community.

Last season's shares being loaded for home delivery
We receive many inquiries about what our policy is for members who are unable to pick up or receive their share on a particular week. We have always encouraged designating friends or relatives to be substitute recipients. When that was not possible we donated the share to the Second Harvest Food Bank in the name of the shareholder. We are now offering a third option. If members are unable to take their share and choose to, we will give credit in the amount of that week's share value. The credit amount will be deducted from the following season's CSA cost when the member signs up. We try to continually refine our policies to offer maximum flexibility while still maintaining the structure and form of a true CSA.

The link below reveals a graphic representation of the corporate ownership of organic brands and products. It is sobering to see how only a few large corporate entities control such a large percentage of our organic food supply. We believe a more decentralized distribution model, including CSA's and farmer's markets, reduces corporate influence on government and chain grocery store policies that often put profits ahead of people.
