Happy Thanksgiving!
November Sunset on the Farm
New at the Farm Store

Chilled by wintry weather?  We've got two fantastic new items at the Farm Store that are sure to bring some spice and warmth into your life, even on the coldest winter days.  The first comes from our partners at Clarion River Organics.  Their Bloody Mary Mix is a delicious blend of organic tomato juice and spicy seasonings.  Everything you need for a zesty cocktail (aside from a splash of vodka) that's perfect for warming up after coming in from the cold, sitting by the fire, or with Sunday brunch.

Earlier this week, Eric at Beelzebub was excited to share his newest product with us, Beelzebub's Spicy Pickles.  It only took a few bites before we asked him to bring us a case of them as soon as possible.  They've got a great crunch, a ton of flavor, and just enough spice to take the November chill off.  They're a perfect savory compliment to Beelzebub's phenomenal seasonal Cranberry Salsa and we think you'll enjoy them as much as we do.  Stop by the Saturday Farm Store at 7269 Sterrettania Rd in Fairview between 10am and 5pm and try them for yourself.

Holiday Gift Ideas
Green Holiday Gift Bags

Our local, hand-crafted, sustainable, and organic products are perfect items for holiday gift-giving.  Our own Fresh Little Farm Girl soaps and body-care products as well as the other items we carry at the Farm Store provide a thoughtful alternative to typical, mass-produced gift items. After a thorough search we were excited to find the environmentally sensitive gift bags and wrappings shown above.  We believe they're a perfect complement to our unique offerings and we're happy to provide them free-of-charge with your holiday purchases.  There are several sizes of these decorative, holiday-themed, 100% recycled kraft paper bags, perfect for individual items, custom assortments, stocking-stuffers and host and hostess gifts. As a bonus, the cotton curling ribbon is grown and dyed responsibly and comes on spools comprised of 100% recycled material and the tissue paper is the only 100% recycled tissue paper made in the U.S.  Give some great gifts and feel great giving them.

Special Announcement

Saturday, November 30th is the fourth annual Small Business Saturday, a day when holiday shoppers are encouraged to support smaller, locally-owned and operated businesses in their communities.  As a small business, we appreciate all of our fantastic patrons and would love to see each and every one of you, but we also strongly believe that shopping locally, regardless of where you do so, allows neighbors to support neighbors and fosters community ties and community spirit.  We're extremely thankful for your patronage all throughout the year and we encourage you to support your favorite local businesses this coming Saturday.

CSA News

The time has come to formalize the 2014 Hunter Farms Organics CSA.  As we discussed in last week's newsletter, due to shareholder feedback and in an effort to offer more options, we are offering a split season.  Each half-season share will be offered at the cost of $275 and as a commitment from prospective shareholders we ask a 10% deposit of $27.50 for the half-season of your choice or $55 if you wish to participate in the full season.  The sign-up cut-off date for the Early Season, the first ten-week span running June 14th to August 16th will be June 1st and the cut-off date for the Late Season, the second ten-week span running August 23rd to October 25th will be August 1st. There are a limited number of spots available for each half-season and we anticipate them filling long before the cut-off dates, so please act quickly in order to ensure your place. Individuals and families that participated in this year's program and who asked to be placed on the waiting list for the coming year will be given priority, but we will do our very best to accommodate all newsletter subscribers who wish to be involved.

Expect the official order form and additional information in next week's newsletter and next week on the farm website at hunterfarmsorganic.com.

The 29th annual Saint Vincent Festival of Trees runs from November 27th to December 1st at the Bayfront Convention Center. This event is aimed at supporting the Children's Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for children's hospitals. This year, nearly 100 local businesses will present uniquely decorated Christmas trees. It's a great cause and there are a host of events for children and adults alike. Check out the link below to learn how you can show your support.
