Around the Farm
Each Wednesday, Second Harvest Food Bank sends a truck to
our farm. The produce that we give to them includes CSA shares from members that are out of town or are otherwise unable to pick up their shares. Their pickup also includes particular items that are not wanted by shareholders.

You can rest assured that if you are unable or unwilling to pick up your share, or if you do not want some items that come with the share, they are going to a good cause.

Our farm stand will remain open
Monday through Saturday 10:00AM - 6:00PM
until Saturday, August 31st.
We will remain open after August 31st
Saturdays 9:00AM - 5:00PM
until December 21st, or by appointment.

Hubbard Squash

Sweet Onions

Please Note: While it is our intention to provide a list of box contents each week that accurately reflects actual box contents, due to the unpredictable nature of farming, we are sometimes unable to precisely predict the contents of your share.  Please understand that when these situations arise, we do our very best to supplement shares with the high quality produce, baked goods, and sundries you've come to enjoy.

As you see in the photograph above, we have been providing delivery service to a number of our shareholders. While we are enjoying providing this service, we are concerned about an inefficient use of fossil fuels. Also, with our expanding waiting list for CSA membership next season, we will undoubtedly increase our membership. Due to these reasons, we are considering implementing a more usual style of CSA pickup for the next growing season. This includes neighborhood drop sites located close to your home for a more mindful and efficient CSA.

Recipe of the Week

Salsa

Fresh tomatoes make a wonderfully flavorful salsa. Add in some fresh cilantro and homegrown onions, and you'll be eating chips and salsa for days! Try adding corn and black beans for a different texture and taste, or add a little bit of sugar to reduce the spice.

Ingredients:

4 whole tomatoes

1 red or yellow onion

1-2 cloves garlic

1-2 hot peppers (jalapeno, serrano, or hot wax)

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup (or more!) cilantro

juice of 1 lime

pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Preparation:

1. Blanch tomatoes with boiling water to remove skins. Add to a large saucepan.

2. Roughly chop onions, garlic, and hot peppers. Add to saucepan.

3. Add salt and lime juice to saucepan and cook down slightly to blend flavors.

4. Transfer mixture to a food processor or blender, add fresh cilantro, and pulse to mix.
