Here we see one of the crew collecting berries into a distilled water jug provided by our friends at the Greater Erie Surgery Center. The reuse of these sterile, BPA free jugs in the picking process (prior to being recycled) is one of the many efforts we make at the farm in support of an agricultural model which prioritizes sustainability and minimizing environmental impact. |
In addition to the farm fresh, hormone and antibiotic free eggs available at our farm store, we are happy to formally announce the sale of an array of the highest quality meat products from the Grabski farm. Here are the items currently available:

This past week, we heard the first dog-day cicadas here at the farm. According to country lore, their droning song marks a six-week countdown to the first autumn frost. This event, along with early turning leaves--such as those on the Butternut tree pictured above--are bittersweet reminders of the waning summer and coming autumn. Fortunately, the garden's bounty will continue on for weeks to come.

Tomato, Basil, and Feta Salad
A great way to highlight and enjoy the unmatched tastes of vine-ripened tomatoes and fresh cucumbers without gilding the lily.
Ingredients:
6 tomatoes, diced
1 small cucumber, peeled, quartered lengthwise, and chopped
3 green onions, chopped
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, cut into strips
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
3 tablespoons crumbled feta cheese
salt and freshly ground pepper, taste
Preparation:
In a large bowl, toss together tomatoes, cucumber, green onions, basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and feta cheese. Season with salt and pepper.

One of the most common hurdles to home gardening is a lack of suitable space. For those who live in urban environments, apartment complexes, or in any location where tillable land comes at a premium or is unavailable altogether, micro-gardening may offer a clever solution.
