High-Stakes Testing

What are your thoughts?

The Mid-Hudson School Study Council has commenced a study on high-stakes testing.  This study is being conducted in an attempt to learn and understand more about the perceptions of high-stakes testing.  In addition, the data collected will contribute to the existing base of knowledge regarding individuals' perceptions of high-stakes testing and be used in future workshops offered by the Mid-Hudson School Study Council.

Parents, teachers, secondary students, administrators, and community members can access the survey here

To facilitate the completion of the study, we would appreciate hearing from you by October 28, 2013.

Land Sale - Unique Opportunity for Ossining Schools and the Town

The Town of Ossining has asked  the Ossining UFSD to sell 5 acres of a 36 parcel land located behind AMD so that pre-paid burial plots can be sold to the Chinese community that find the limitations of  this land otherwise undesirable property very desirable. The revenue that the District will receive from the Town will help to maintain educational programs for the school district. The  burial plot sales will allow the Town to maintain Dale Cemetery for several years. Click here to learn more.

Upcoming Family Matters Event - October 24th, 6:30-9:15 p.m.

The Ossining school district and Ossining Communities That Care are jointly hosting a resource evening at Anne M. Dorner Middle School for parents and guardians of students in grades 5 through 12. Entitled "Family Matters," this free event will include two small-group sessions being presented in English and Spanish, and offer participants their choice of workshops from among topics that include bullying, local policing of underage drinking, effective parent-teen communication techniques, and what Ossining residents can do to check the growth of prescription drug abuse.  Workshop presenters will include some of the district's student counselors and staff members, plus members of the local police department. A dinner-and-dialogue session between workshops will give parents a chance to exchange ideas and perspective with their peers on the issues of drug and alcohol use by Ossining's youth.  Registration for workshops and dinner begins online at the district site and the Ossining Communities That Care site on October 7.  Visit ossiningctc.org.
