Upcoming Funding & Clinic Opportunities
Local governments and First Nations wanting to meet to discuss common goals and opportunities for joint action can now apply for funding under a new round of the Regional Community to Community (C2C) Forum program. The final application deadline for 2013 Strategic Wildfire Prevention funding is also upcoming. Two sessions at the 2013 UBCM Convention will highlight these and other funding programs, tools and resources available to local governments and First Nations to pursue community projects. Read More

Ministry of Environment, MMBC Respond to Stewardship Plan Concerns
In 2011, packaging and printed paper (PPP) was added to the Recycling Regulation as a new product category. UBCM created a Working Group in 2012 to identify local government concerns and work with the province and Multi Materials BC (MMBC) on the implementation of the stewardship plan. Cabinet Ministers Confirmed for Convention
UBCM is pleased to confirm that Cabinet Panels will once again be part of this year's Convention Program. These panels provide delegates with a unique opportunity to ask questions directly to the ministers on matters of provincial policy and local government concern. UBCM has appointed two new representatives to the British Columbia Local Government Contract Management Committee (BCLGCMC): Mayor Malcolm Brodie, City of Richmond, as Metro Vancouver representative, and Director Ray Boucher, Fraser Valley Regional District, as the representative of a regional district policed by the RCMP.
