UBCM Leads Capacity Building Exchange with Vietnamese Partner - MOU Pending
A UBCM staff has just returned from a successful mission to Vietnam to support the capacity building efforts of the Association of Cities of Vietnam (ACVN). This work is undertaken in partnership with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), under the Municipal Partners in Economic Development (MPED) program, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

BCTC Report Encourages Learning From Success
"I am certainly not satisfied with the progress that is being made in treaty negotiations." This was the firm stance of Sophie Pierre, Chief Commissioner of the British Columbia Treaty Commissioner (BCTC) in the 2011 BCTC Annual Report. A year has passed, and according to Pierre in BCTC's 2012 Annual Report "Learning from our Success", a significant and concentrated effort to move negotiations forward has been made. Through a series of interviews, the report highlights and acknowledges the First Nations that have completed significant milestones in their negotiations. It also gives status updates on all 60 First Nations that are in the BC treaty process, and discusses the considerable challenges that have yet to be overcome. Direction Sought on 2013 UBCM Group Benefits Conference
