Greetings!
This month, we're placing an extra focus on keeping you healthy and active for the summer.
One area we're highlighting is gut health. There are several posts on our blog that you can check out to learn more about everything from the basics of digestion to choosing supplements. To help you learn more, we're also hosting a talk on Thursday, August 27th on GI basics called "Heal Your Gut, Heal Your Body." It will be an introductory overview of GI-related topics including the importance of gut health, probiotics, leaky gut syndrome, food allergies, Celiac disease, and tips for better eating. Come join us for this free educational seminar! Space is limited, so call Rejuvé today to get more information and RSVP.

Are Aches and Pains Keeping You Out of the Game?
Between the warmer weather and the vacation vibe, summer is the perfect time to get outside and play. People are hitting the courts (basketball, tennis, and volleyball, that is) and taking their gym routines (from crossfit to yoga) outdoors. Whether you're getting in shape or just having fun, sports-related injuries can be extremely frustrating. Summer is definitely one time when you don't want to be stuck sitting on the sidelines!
At Rejuvé, we've been using Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy to help our patients get back into the game. Athletes throughout the world of professional sports have used PRP to come back more quickly from both acute injuries (like a sprained knee) and chronic ones (like tendonitis). In fact, Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera has recently been in the news for receiving a PRP injection to help treat a calf strain -- and the Detroit News just reported that it looks like he's on the "fast track" to recovery.
What is PRP? It's a way of taking your body's natural healing response -- the growth factors in your blood's platelets -- and intensifying them. Platelet-Rich Plasma itself is plasma with a much higher concentration of platelets (usually 5 to 10 times greater) than what is normally found in blood. Your own blood is drawn, spun in a specialized centrifuge to separate out the platelets, and then injected at the site of your injury. Studies have shown that PRP is most effective in treating chronic tendon injuries, including tennis elbow, ACL injuries, jumper's knee, Achilles tendonopathy, plantar fasciosis, and other forms of tendonitis.
You can head to our blog to learn more about PRP. If you want to find out if PRP could help relieve your pain, c all Rejuvé today at 408-740-5320 to make an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Tang.

A Powerful Supplement for Whole-Body Health
Sometimes, it's hard to improve on nature. Colostrum is a great example of this: It's the milky fluid that mammals (including humans) release in the first few days after giving birth, before real milk comes in. Since it's vital to helping newborns get a healthy start, colostrum contains proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and antibodies that fight viruses and bacterial infections -- in fact, the antibody levels in colostrum can be 100x higher than the levels found in regular cow's milk.
It's hard to improve on nature -- but it's not impossible. At Rejuvé, we recommend the Colostrum LD supplement from Sovereign Laboratories. The supplement uses colostrum taken from the first milking of pasture-fed US Grade A dairy cows, and then processed to maintain as much of its integrity as possible. It's wrapped in a liposome coating that both protects the colostrum's components and maximizes their bioavailability.
Colostrum is powerful stuff: It's beneficial both in helping infants and young children with proper development and it has benefits for strength, mobility, and immune modulation that make it perfect for older adults, too. Athletes often take Colostrum enhance their lean muscle strength, stamina, performance, and healing. Colostrum has also been found in clinical studies to help prevent and heal the damage caused by Leaky Gut Syndrome.
Are you receiving the maximum benefits from the supplements you take? Vitamin testing can help you find out how well your supplements are working. Call Rejuvé today at 408-740-5320 to learn more!
