(Four) Roses for Valentine's

Treat your Valentine to a happy hour at home. This classic cocktail warms you up on a chilly February night.

* ¾ oz Sweet Vermouth
* 2 1/2 oz Four Roses Bourbon
* Dash Angostura® bitters
* 2 or 3 ice cubes
* 1 maraschino cherry
* 1 twist of orange peel

Combine the vermouth, whiskey, bitters and ice in a mixing glass. Stir gently, don't bruise the spirits and cloud the drink. Place the cherry in a chilled cocktail glass and strain the whiskey mixture over the cherry. Rub the cut edge of the orange peel over the rim of the glass and twist it over the drink to release the oils but don't drop it in.

More Bites of News
  • Looking for a Valentine's celebration that is off the beaten path? Head down a country road to Serenbe instead. Enjoy a screening of Like Water for Chocolate and dishes inspired by the move.

  • Italy and romance just seem to go hand and hand. If you can swing a trip to Italia next week, head to Varuni Napoli instead. Luca's Amore Mio menu for 2 is just $60 and includes a bottle of prosecco, your choice of pizza and Nutella cannoli. (BTW, this may be the best cannoli in Atlanta!)
  • Score discounted tickets for your honey to foodie films. Atlanta  Jewish Film Festival has given Taste of Atlanta fans a special discount. Promo code: FDAT3125 is good for 10% off on Deli Man or Streit's: Matzo and the American Dream.
  • Romeo + Juliet, Bogie + Bacall, Ellen + Portia. They are all lovely pairings, but we'd have to say that one of our favorite combos is tomato soup + grilled cheese. That's why we are so excited to welcome  Tom + Chee to the Westside!
