MCSA Executive Director Search

As you may know, the Major County Sheriffs' Association was established in 1999.  As part of a strategic plan process, an organizational review of the Major County Sheriffs' Association was conducted in 2009, with recommendations made during the January 2010 annual meeting.  One of the key recommendations in the report was to move away from a volunteer Executive Director position to a salaried position.

In furtherance of these recommendations, your Board of Directors has contracted with Association Strategies to conduct a search for a part-time Executive Director, with the possibility of expanding to full-time employment.

The Executive Director will report to the six-member Executive Board and is responsible for (1) Board administration and support; (2) operational, financial and budget management; (3) advocacy and coordination of legislative/policy efforts with related law enforcement organizations and agencies; (4) meeting planning and administration; (5) membership growth and retention; (6) sponsorship and grant funding; and (7) marketing/communications.

Candidates must have (1) a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred); (2) experience with and/or demonstrated knowledge of association management, or commensurate skills; (3) working knowledge of law enforcement issues; (4) experience on or understanding of Capitol Hill, legislative and policy development; and (5) ability to develop relationships with and secure access to leadership of key members of Congress, law enforcement agencies and organizations.

Please forward this position description on to any interested individuals; inquiries should be made to the search firm directly.

The search is being conducted by Association Strategies, Inc., 1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA. Interested candidates may apply online at www.assnstrategies.com/current_searches.php.
