Dear Fellow BVD Members,
I hope everyone has been enjoying our (mostly) lovely fall weather. With the end of daylight savings, the season of being at the barn in the cold and dark will be upon us. What are your goals for the winter for yourself and your horse? Will you be working toward learning new skills, aiming to move up a level next season, or perhaps taking a bit of a break and spending more time hacking out, or even sitting by a warm fire reading a good dressage classic? Whatever your plans, please consider spending some time with other Boulder Valley Dressage members.
We have our annual banquet coming up in January, which is a great opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of fellow riders. As we all know, there is always a team of supporters behind every victory in the show ring and the banquet is a chance to acknowledge those folks, as well as the individual award winners. It's also a time to get together away from the barn (!) and have some fun.
We will also be continuing to meet throughout the winter in order to plan BVD-sponsored activities for 2014 and we would love to have your participation in that process. If you've been too busy throughout the rest of the year to participate, winter is a great time to come to a meeting. At our December gathering, we will be electing officers for 2014 and in February, we will be deciding on events to sponsor for the rest of the year. Please join us.
Finally, a couple of reminders:
- if you have a trophy from 2012, please return it to Julie Barringer-Richers as soon as possible.
- nominations for officers (President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer) for 2014 are currently being accepted. Please email Kathie Hibbard if you would like to nominate someone.

BVD YEAR END AWARDS CELEBRATION
Mark your Calendars! BVD Annual Awards Banquet will be held on January 18, 2014.
On-line registration will be available again this year and members will receive an e-invitation with all details in early December.
We look forward to celebrating the 2013 accomplishments of our members and sharing a great evening!

The 2014 Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North will be held July 15-20 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. The qualifying period for the NAJYRC runs July 1, 2013-June 23, 2014, a complete calendar of qualifying competitions can be found here.
The 2014 USEF Dressage Seat Medal Finals will be held August 21-24 at the Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, IL. Riders qualified for the 2014 Finals by competing in the USDF Dressage Seat Medal Semi-Finals at the Great American/USDF Regional Championships. Find information here.
USDF Youth Clinics
The next USDF Junior/Young Rider Clinic will be held February 1-2, 2014 at Twinwood Equestrian Center in Simonton, TX, the clinic will be taught by Jeremy Steinberg. Rider applications are due December 20, 2013.

USDF INSTUCTOR TRAINER WORKSHOPS Auditors Welcome
USDF workshops will be held for instructors and trainers at Phantom Hill Farm in Ft. Collins. Space is limited, Applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Application March 15-16, 2014 Riding Training-2nd Level May 3-4, 2014 Refresher Training-4th Level Auditor space is unlimited.
BVD members can receive 50% of the auditing fee back ($45.00 maximum) when they pay for and attend the Instructor Workshops

The USEF has implemented the Dressage Rider Tests Program. The Dressage Rider Tests are available for use by riders at Training, First and Second Levels.
