           OCTOBER 2013

Dear Fellow BVD Members,

Our hearts go out to all members of our local communities who were impacted by the recent floods.  If you and your horses were among those affected, please let us know if you need anything that fellow BVD members might be able to provide. Donations are also being accepted by the Colorado Horsecare Food Bank at www.horsefoodbank.org.

On a happier note, congratulations to all of you who competed in Championships last month! Whether or not you made it to the awards ceremony, you are all winners for qualifying and attending the show.

Please plan to join us for our next meeting on Thursday, October 17th at Beth Geier's house. This is an important gathering, as we will be choosing our delegates for the RMDS Board of Governor's meeting in November.  As one of the largest RMDS chapters, Boulder Valley Dressage can have quite a bit of influence over the decisions made at the BOG meeting.  If you would like your voice to be heard, this is your opportunity.

Another opportunity open to Boulder Valley members is to attend the USDF Instructor Workshops this month (see below for details). Whether you are an amateur rider, or a trainer, this is a great chance to learn from the sidelines.  Boulder Valley members who attend will receive a 50% discount on the auditing fee in the form of a BVD educational rebate ($45 maximum).

Finally, don't miss the USDF Junior/YR clinic with George Williams at Autumn Hill.  We are so lucky once again to be hosting him in our neighborhood.

Have a good ride.

Sarah

Admired by many!

Mac and Morgan were this years RMDS PSG Jr/Young Rider Champions.  All of us from Dressage Pacifico and Wild Rose Farm at Autumn Hill IEC are so proud of of them. Morgan, who is now 17, has ridden Mac for about 6 years, while a working student, first for me and now for Greta.

Mac, who is now almost 26 years old is, what I like to call, a real "Renaissance Man, oops, I mean 'Horse'".  He has not always had the easiest body to deal with, but his 150% "try his best" attitude has made him an absolute joy to work with.   I know that Morgan, and Greta before her, both feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to ride and learn from this very special horse.

This was Mac's final Championships show and we are looking forward to his official retirement party next year.  We hope you will all be there to help us honor him!
